After the first year of making a calendar, I decided to do the back cover as well. It was the perfect space to put a few extra photos that didn't make it onto the calendar pages themselves. While the front cover features one shot of each kid (usually, but not always, within the same photo) prominently displayed, the back cover gets a scattering of multiple shots, though I make sure each kid gets featured the same number of times. Since we got a cat two years ago, I've also included at least one shot of him on the back cover as well, since he doesn't really get interior real estate to himself.
The design of the back cover is meant to coordinate with the front. I often just reuse the front's layout, minus most (if not all) of the embellishments, though sometimes I spice it up by using other elements from the same kit, or a rearrangement of the same ones on the front. In this case, I flipped the paper strips around to the opposite corner, removed three of them, and layered them slightly differently. I also reused the star scatter, just in a different position.
It's worth noting that the front and back covers are usually the only places in the calendar where I actually use frames around the photos.
