About Me
I'm a 65 year old living in Toronto Canada. I started paper scrapping in the 1990s & switched to digital in the early 2000s.
I've been happily married for 35 years with 2 adult children. We have a married adult daughter & a late son. (He had multiple severe disabilities - nonverbal autism, severe intellectual disability, atypical bipolar disorder, epilepsy and was a XYY male. We lost him 5 years ago at age 25 to SUDEP - Sudden Death in EPilepsy). I consider him my greatest teacher. Graham's photo and memorial page are here: https://www.autismbrainnet.org/donor/graham-brown/ (The same photo and tribute are also on the North American SUDEP Registry Our Stories page which he shares with others. Graham's donation was a joint donation to both sets of researchers.)
I'm retired but originally a children's librarian (public library) and then a supply (substitute) teacher. My favourite classes to teach were kindergarten, grades 1-2, middle school and especially special education. I particularly liked teaching students with autism or intellectual disabilities or adhd or learning disabilities or who needed behavioural support.
My hobbies (other than digital scrapping and photography) are knitting, board gaming, reading, journaling especially bullet journals, fountain pens, listening to a wide variety of music, classic movies and foreign language films and cooking (low carb/keto now since it controls my Type 2 diabetes.) I have a big interest in history, geography and different cultures and read a lot in these areas. I mostly read nonfiction but I do enjoy science fiction and fantasy. My husband and I share our home with 3 rescue kitties.
I consider myself a beginner with scrapbook design and I am enjoying learning.

I've created some more Canadian elements I will be uploading all of my Canadian elements and papers (including all those previously uploaded) in a "Canadiana Kit" shortly. I've created some more Canadian elements I will be uploading all of my Canadian elements and papers (including all those previously uploaded) in a "Canadiana Kit" shortly. I will also be uploading more country crests soon.
These new elements include : crests for National Parks (Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise) and for the cities of Vancouver, Victoria and Ottawa. As well, there is a word art with some of the lyrics of O Canada, the national anthem.
Ottawa is Canada's national capital (technically it's the Ottawa-Hull capital region. Ottawa is in Ontario, Hull is across the river in Quebec. Both have federal government buildings.) Ottawa was originally called Bytown. When Canada was being formed Ottawa was chosen by Queen Victoria because it was between Montreal and Toronto and far from the American border, making safe from invasion. The name "Ottawa" means "to trade" in Algonquin, the indigenous people who traded along the Ottawa River. It is a city with many government offices and museums. (My personal favourite being The Canadian Museum of History, located across the river in Hull, Quebec.
This crest shows the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings where Canadian House of Common and the Senate meet. The buildings are in Gothic Revival style and originally built in 1866, about a year before Canada's confederation (creation). The centre block (except for the Parliamentary library) burnt and was rebuilt in 1916. The tower in the centre is called the Peace Tower. In front of the Center Block is the eternal Centennial Flame which commemorates Canada's 100th birthday in 1967.
