EDIT: CONTEST CLOSED

(Note that the metal print featured in this post was provided free of charge by MPix for me to review.)

If you've seen my posts lately and thought Jordan and I were doing a bit more around the house than usual, you were right. August marked the start of our third year here in Oregon, and for us that is a significant record. The last time I lived in the same place this long ended when I was 15, so you know, we're celebrating! It has now occurred to us that we do in fact live here, so we've been doing a few things so that the house reflects that.

On the Road: San Francisco

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 10/16/2015 - 00:00

A few weeks back Jordan and I took a trip down to San Francisco to see Jordan's brother and sister-in-law. We enjoyed a leisurely trip down the coast and through the Redwoods. A very scenic route!

Fall! What a great time. September was a great month, gotta love the weather as it becomes more appropriate to drink tea. Not that the weather ever stops me, but it's definitely more enjoyable to drink it when it's cool. And that's basically how I take stock of my life. Is it good weather for drinking tea?

August 2015 in Photos

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 09/04/2015 - 00:00

On the last day of August it suddenly felt like fall had arrived. After months of straight sunshine, the clouds rolled it, dropped some rain and have been hanging around, bring with them a fresh feeling in the air that says, "fall is just around the corner."

I'll admit that summer is not one of my favorite months. The relentless sun and heat is not something I like to experience for longer than a week, so the clouds rolling in was definitely a relief for me. I've already eaten soup twice, and I'm day dreaming about eating some more...

July 2015 in Photos

We've had some busy summer months, and while we're back to the regular schedule now, we spent much of July with family at the coast. It was a lovely relaxing time with good food, lots of reading and some games. The most surprising bit was that it was sunny every day, which on the Oregon Coast is quite unusual. I am tanner now than I have been since I was 15 and lived in the Andes, when it was impossible to not get a tan. I still look down daily at my hands and think, "who's hand are those?" It's pretty strange.

June was one of those months were I did a bit more than I usually do. To begin I turned 30. My family visited Oregon, so we did our best to show it off. Then, Jordan's brother got married near Baltimore, and both Jordan and I were in the wedding. If I didn't have the pictures to prove it, I probably wouldn't believe I did all this stuff!

Victoria, Canada

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 06/17/2015 - 07:27

In May we had a great chance to go with some friends to Victoria, Canada. I had never been to Canada, and I'd been real keen to go, so I was quite excited about this opportunity. Plus, the more I heard about Victoria, the more it sounded like my kind of place. And it was really wonderful! I'm definitely hoping to go back soon.

The drive up through Washington is quite beautiful, driving along Puget Sound and then the Olympic mountains come into view. We took the ferry from Port Angeles direct to downtown Victoria, which was quite exciting.

May was a pretty busy month. We enjoyed the spring time. We went to Canada. My family came for a visit. I did some work somewhere in there too...

I can't believe we're into May already! Looking ahead we have some busy weeks coming, so I know I've got a little more time to get things in order before it's time for some summer holidays!

The weather has slowly been creeping up on the thermometer. The windows have started opening too, and there's not much better than the sweet smelling air that drifts in. My clothes are getting lighter and sometimes my tea is iced. Summer here we come!
