My Current Photo Process

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 04/17/2015 - 04:23

In response to some comments on my March 2015 Photos post I thought I'd share a little about my current photo process. It's changed a bit since I upgraded my phone, and I'm settling into a new routine.

March 2015: Some Photos

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 04/03/2015 - 07:30

I got a new phone about a month ago, and it's kind of changing up my usual photo routine. I guess I'm joining the 21st century...trying to figure it out at least...

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the month. And next week I'll be back with my pocket layouts! And also possibly the world's biggest Easter bundle(s)! It should be an exciting week. Have a lovely weekend!

Looking Back at February

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 03/04/2015 - 06:18

It's always hard to believe when the month is over, and February doesn't really help the situation by being so short. We had a very mild and enjoyable month, spring is well on it's way, which seems to be a bit unusual from reports I've heard of other places around the country. But the daffodils are up and the cherry blossoms are ready to burst out any day now. There's not much better than the arrival of spring.

2014: Instagram Favorites

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 01/09/2015 - 07:10

This is a double favorite things post, because not only am I going to share my favorite photos from Instagram this year, I also want to take a minute to tell you why Instagram itself is also one of my favorite things.

Happy New Year!

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 01/01/2015 - 11:43

Whew! It's a new year and I hardly know what to do! It's been a busy season for us, starting with Thanksgiving in Memphis and then Christmas at the coast. We've been enjoying lots of family time, but the sustained lack of a regular schedule has left me in a bit of a confusion. Over the next week I hope to catch up on things and remember what exactly is going on. To help me find the thread, I'm hoping to have a bit of time to look back over 2014, as well as make some plans for 2015.

To get started here are some of my favorite photos from 2014:

Canvas Print For Our Home

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 11/05/2014 - 08:26

Continuing with my nesting theme of blog posts, we've been very happy with our gallery wall, but wanted a little something more. It's fun to see our photos printed out and framed, but what our hearts really wanted was a giant print! Ever since this photo happened while we were visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia, we've been waiting for the moment when we could get it printed on a large canvas.

Looking Back at October

By Marisa Lerin Mon, 11/03/2014 - 11:28

The scented candle is burning, the fireplace is keeping us warm, and the vibrant sunny days of October are behind us as we start to drift into a November that feels more like winter. We've put our winter-weight duvet on the bed, and it's hard getting up in the morning because it's so cozy in bed, and so much less so outside of it. But the dark and the cold brings with it some of my favorite things: soup and blankets and tea and holidays and family. Much of the next two months will be spent with family as Jordan and I prepare to both travel and to welcome people to Oregon.

Photography: Rule of Thirds

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 10/29/2014 - 09:46

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of teaching a small photography class. It was a short and sweet format, and I was focusing on people who may take a lot of photos (don't we all these days? with cameras in our pockets all the time?), but don't really know what they're doing. I touched on a few points in the class, but mostly we talked about the rule of thirds.

A Day in the Life

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 10/24/2014 - 09:54

I was quite thrilled when the Hollywood Housewife announced her day in the life day. I participated last year and it was great motivation to capture a day, and also share it with others and see what the world was up to. I did it again on Wednesday and here are the results. I was surprised by how many photos it felt like I was taking, versus all the things I actually missed. Such as, did I eat anything besides tea and cookies?

Small Town Charm

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 10/17/2014 - 11:37

I was hoping to post about the new gallery wall we hung today, but I didn't prepare any photos ahead of time, and the lighting is pretty uninspiring today, along with my brain, so I'll have to put it off a bit. But I have been trying to get into the habit of posting here three times a week, so I'm sharing instead this photo I snapped last weekend when Jordan and I were out and about visiting a nearby town. I've been pretty surprised at how easily I've adapted to living in a small town myself and how much I love it.
