August 2015 Pocket Pages

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 10/02/2015 - 00:00

I'm doggedly sticking with my monthly pocket page project. Not too far behind at this point, although I do have a fair number of layouts set up for September, so hopefully I can get through those. But now that we're approaching the end of the year I have added extra motivation to see the project through to the end, and I'm pretty excited about that point.

July 2015 Pocket Pages

July was a bit lighter on the layouts than previous months, and I also enjoyed making a few more regular layouts. Being able to mix the pocket pages and the regular layouts really helps keep things fresh when trying to stay on top of documenting an entire year. If I'm feeling lazy, I can just stick everything in the pocket space, and when that gets boring I can use the entire 12x12 space to do whatever I want.

It's only the middle of August and I've caught up with my June pocket pages. I'm feeling pretty good about that. June was a busy month: family time, birthdays, weddings...And now it's all in the scrapbook!

Everything from my time in Hong Kong wouldn't fit in one album, so I pulled out all the trips and gave them their own special place.

Well, I've fallen a bit behind during these busy summer months, but the structure of the pocket pages has made it easy enough to go back and catch up. Also, if I can find a few spare minutes to set up the photos and journaling, that makes everything easier when going back to catch up. I've finally finished up May, which was a big project because I also had our trip to Victoria to take care of (coming soon!).

Pockets In Real Life: Hong Kong Edition

Continuing in my pursuit of pocket fun, I have another album to share with you today. (See project 1 and project 2.) My family moved to Hong Kong when I was 16 and I finished high school there. It was a pretty amazing city to live in, and defined my idea of a city. No other city has quite lived up to this since.

Pockets In Real Life: School Days Edition

After the success of my first pocket album, I've been busy working on a few more. It's been a much more rewarding process redoing all these old scrapbooks than I was expecting. For one thing, I'm really excited to actually look at them myself and show them to people, rather than hiding them in a dark corner. Also, working with the old photos has been really enjoyable and it's made me reconsider my previous stance of considering a project "done".

Pockets In Real Life: Bolivia Edition

I've mentioned before that I have a collection of paper scrapbooks that I made as a teenager, which I'm not very fond of. My grievances towards them are the following:
