4 Tutorials to Freshen Up Your Layout

In this post I'll be sharing four tutorials that can help you add a little flair to your layout. All these layouts are ones that I use frequently myself and hopefully at least one of them will be new to you.

The first one is quite simple, but one that I use on pretty much every layout I make, and that's adding a simple border to a photo. You can also use this same technique to turn a stamp like element into a sticker, which I often prefer on my layout as well.

This next technique is a switch on a regular shadow, this time adding it to the inside of a layer to make it look like a cutout. I don't use this one often, but it's very effective and fun to use on a layout.

This technique is a more recent find for me and one that I use all the time to add some realism to my layout. I use this blending technique often when I'm adding word art or paint. Blending it with the bottom layout makes it feel less flat and like I really painted or stamped it onto the layer below.

I love to use scatters on my layout, but they aren't always included in a kit. However, it is easy enough to make one yourself with whatever shape and style appeals to you. I like to use this tutorial with these sequin styles from Elif. I also have some fun sequin shape brushes here.
