5 Tips for Getting More Digital Scrapbooking Layouts Done
The end of the year is coming and that may or may not be making you feel like you are behind on your scrapbooking. First I want to say that you have done a great job this year scrapbooking. Even if you didn't so a single thing, good for you doing the things you needed to do.
But if you are feeling like you would like to get a few pages completed before the end of the year, here are a few of my top tips that get me motivated to get some scrapping done.
1. Collect the photos you want to scrapbook. Whether you're working on a particular project, or just have a few photos lying around that you'd like to scrapbook, get them all in one place. I also like to go the extra step of actually creating canvases in Photoshop and adding the photos as I want to scrap them. This is especially helpful if you're working on a project that contains more than one page. This way I know what photos I want to scrap together, which ones I want to be stand alone and also if I want to make any into a full page photo spread (less work!).
2. Use layout templates! And don't stop after you pick each layout template to decorate, pick out all the layout templates you need and add you photos in one sitting. Now, when you have more time to scrapbook everything is ready and waiting for you.
3. Reuse the elements and papers you've used for one layout. You know those pieces already work together, so just rearrange them. If you're working on a project, now you'll have a cohesive look. If you're not working on a project, no one will know. Check out my post here where I reuse the same elements on 4 layouts.
4. Identify kits and bundles you've used in the past and use them again. We all have our favorites and usually favorites make the scrapbooking go quicker.
5. Browse the gallery for inspiration. If the gallery is too overwhelming for you, you can browse my old Gallery Spotlight posts. Identify in a layout that catches your eye the specific part that you like and then use that in your own layout. I will often pick one technique that I like from a layout, like the usage of a particular element, or how papers are layered in the background, and then go from there.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

Great tips. Yes, I will be using them for sure. I am months behind. Thanks for all the ideas. I enjoy being part of the digital community. I always find great ideas and tips.
Thanks, Maria, for keeping us on point.
These are great ideas. When I need inspiration I always look at other people's layouts.
Terrific ideas that get one's creativity flowing. Layout templates are an enormously helpful tool when you're pressed for time. Same with scraplifting.
Great ideas! When I feel like I'm in a time crunch, I always look at templates and then tweak them with a few personal touches.
Sometimes I look through my own gallery for a scrapbook page I could easily edit with new photos, elements, and paper to give it a whole new look without starting from scratch.
These are such great ideas. I especially love #3 and #4. Using a reliable kit and using the same elements and papers really helps get pages done. I have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I even sometimes reuse the same layout for each kid, but change the primary photo depending on whose book it is for.
