How To Use A Digital Scrapbooking Quick Page
I recently updated my tutorial for using a digital scrapbooking quick page, so I thought I'd share a little about the process here as well. Using a quick page is an easy way to create a digital scrapbooking page quickly, because most of the work is done for you. In fact, if you choose the PNG version of the quick page all you have to do is add your photos.
Recently I've started including PSD versions of my quick pages as well, if you like to have a bit more optimization. The PNG version of the quick page will just be a flat image with transparent holes for you to add your own photos. The PSD version will open in various photo editing programs like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or the Gimp. Once open, it will have all the layers of the digital scrapbooking layout included, so that you can move around elements, as well as remove and add what you like.
To give you an idea of how these processes work, I've created a couple videos. In this first one I use Photoshop to create a digital scrapbooking quick page both starting with the PNG format, as well as the PSD format.
I also created the same video but using Photoshop Elements, if that's your software of choice.
And while we're here, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite quick pages. This first one from Rachel includes my favorite colors.
This digital scrapbooking quick page I created is simple enough for any occasion and has some extra room for your own embellishing.
This pretty quick page from Billie is ready to capture some of your sweet moments.
And finally, I create a lot of pocket style quick pages as well. These are some cute ones.
Quick Pages are a kind of a love 'em or hate 'em kind of a thing. They are great for people working through big projects or who like the look of a certain designer. But they do remove some of the creative aspect which brings a lot of people to this hobby. Do you like quick pages? Can you modify them to fit your own needs?

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

YES practice makes perfect. Im using Photopad by Pixillon and Photoscape which is free and does a lot more than you first think. Ive been at it for 5 years on and off so think its time to up the ante and try a more sound and well known publishing firm. Thanks for replying Marisa, appreciate it.
@Amanda: I do recommend Photoshop, but I have been digital scrapbooking in it for 10 years, so I'm sure I make it look easier than it is for beginners.
I dont have photoshop but was thinking of buying it. Watching you work it was enjoyable and it appears to be easier than people say. I enjoyed the video but what i enjoyed most was your voice, putting a voice to the face makes me happy. Thank you Marisa
Thank you, Marisa. I try it.
So helpful! Thank you!!!
@Melody: What program are you using? To crop a PNG QP to 8.5x11 you'll have to look for one that's centered, as you'll be cropping off the edge.
How can I make a 12x12 into a 8.5x11?
This is a very useful lesson!
I like the idea of quick pages, but I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used one! I think that’s why I use templates so much, though, because it’s a good balance between saving time through a lot of the design decisions being made for me, and customizing it.
LOVE!! your quick pages and pocket pages so so much. Thank you for taking the time to make these.
