La Vida Mágica: Christmas in Mexico

Over the Christmas holiday we were lucky enough to spend a couple weeks in Mexico with my parents. It was a fun and relaxing time, if a littler colder and rainier than we were expecting (January in Oregon has been a weather improvement, I have to confess). But we did see some sun, and the little town where my parents live is exceptionally cute.

As this blog tends more towards being random than anything else, you may not be aware that my parents have been working for international schools for the past 15 years. Thus they can be blamed (almost entirely I think) for my excessive traveling.

Map

My parents live in a small town called Santiago, about 20 minutes outside of Monterrey.

The town square was all decorated for Christmas, complete with a little Christmas town.

Cobblestone streets, brightly painted buildings
and a backdrop of mountains do indeed create magical surroundings.

So delicious

Yes, the food was delicious.

What a picturesque town! Your photos make me want to visit :-). I don't speak Spanish though, so I"m not sure how well that would go.

What beautiful pictures, Marisa! My dh & I went to Mexico for our honeymoon 20 years ago... It was a magical time & place for us, and the food was amazing! We stayed at one of those all-inclusive places, but did try to venture out as much as we could because we wanted to see more of Mexico... I got to experience one of those sidewalk sales (in a maze of tents - my first attempt ever at bartering), visit ruins, and swim/snorkel in gorgeous waters surrounded by the coolest cobalt blue & yellow-striped fish. It must be cool visiting your parents in all sorts of places around the world. They can be your personal travel guide & take you to all the best places. ;)

Wow, I´m really impressed on how some of your pictures remember me my own pics from my 2013 road trip. Do we have any chance of getting small colorful colonial houses and churches as ellies on your Mexico kits?
