My (Digital) Memory Keeping in 2023
I have a lot of plans for my digital memory keeping in 2023 and the nice thing about waiting until February to talk about them, is I've figured out a few things and already worked out a couple kinks.
Digital Pocket Album
If you can believe it, and I can't, this will be my ninth year of creating a weekly digital pocket page spread. I'm in a very consistent routine with this project, which you can read more about here. Having so many years completed is at this point a strong motivating factor in continuing.
Scrap From the Day Travelers Notebook
A few things I've been messing around with for a while may have come together into a project that has sustaining power. We won't know until the end of the year, but I feel like this new project may have legs to go the distance. If I'm feeling inspired on a day, I will search Google Photos for the specific day, like January 18, and see what photo catches my fancy. Then I will create a travelers notebook sized spread. I like this project because I get to revist old photos, and the TN sized layout takes about 10 minutes to finish, even less if I start with a layout template. I've come up with this little notebook template to house my finished layouts in.
Memory Planner
After messing around with various digital planners last year, I made a clutch decision in December to keep a memory planner and a regular planner this year. Splitting things up seemed to make sense because I liked the idea of creating pretty spreads about what's going on, but I also need to know what's going on, and ultimately these seemed like two separate tasks. I am using this digital planner for my memory planning, where I am keeping cute spreads for the month, week and day. I am using this digital planner to keep track of things I actually need to keep track of ahead of time. I recently created a post about getting started digital planning if you're interested.
Art Journal?
I am using this beautiful digital notebook for other random projects that are less solid at this point. Maybe I will do a gratitude journal. Maybe I will keep a notebook of poems I like. I always want to do some digital art journaling, but not sure where that fits in yet.
Travel Journal
As needed, I will continue to use my digital travel journal, which I shared about here.
Line a Day Journal
This is another project that I've been doing for many years, and is well established in my routine, but I like to mention it here because I think it is a very clever hack for a paper line a day journal, but with unlimited space and unlimited number of years to fill it in.
The key for me, and I think for most people with regular creative output, is finding what works and creating a routine to support it. I do spend a fair amount of time considering these projects, but mostly because I know if I want to be successful it's going to have to fit into my routine in a certain way to get done. I've been scrapbooking long enough now to know what works and what doesn't for me. Right now I'm in a big digital only mode, which feels simple and manageable for me right now. I may later in the year try to add in some sort of physical project, but for now I'm focused on working with these projects and getting them sorted into my daily routine.
As this is a fair number of projects, I think I will struggle to keep you updated on them here on the blog, but I am hoping to share consistently on Instagram if you are interested.
What are you up to this year? Have you already crashed and burned on a project?

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

@Tonya: It's one I made. Once I get the kinks worked out, I'll release it here.
These are such great ideas. May I ask which digital traveler's notebook you are using? Thanks so much!
