New: Superlatives
I made this kit about a year ago when we finished our year of traveling. Our trip started from Korea (where we had been living for 2 years teaching English) and ended here in Amman, Jordan. We visited 50 cities in 18 countries over 310 days. Here's a little video with a few more details:
Needless to say it was a rather intense, overwhelming experience. I look back at the pictures now with good memories and a feeling of relief that I'm currently not on the road. While I love traveling, I also really love being at home. I spent several months after the trip without any real knowledge of where I was. I would constantly look up from my book or a movie and spend a few minutes trying to decide where I was. There were a lot of options.
I made this Superlatives kit to help me make a cohesive journal project of our time on the road. I wanted neutral elements and papers to stay in the background of the photos and lists I wanted to highlight. A superlative, according to Merriam Webster:
As in, "The superlative form of 'nice' is 'nicest'; the superlative form of 'bad' is 'worst'; the superlative form of 'interesting' is 'most interesting.'" Often seen in yearbooks, I wanted to do a similar type of thing to bring together the rather disparate experience of traveling on 2 continents. Since I'm a terrible journaler, making lists is something I can do without too much stress, and I thought other people might enjoy thinking about and scrapping some superlatives from their own life. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
My new standard for releasing items on the site will be to upload the kits, and then over the next couple of weeks upload the individual assets, so those are coming if that's what you are waiting for.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.
