New Today: Ramadan Collab

Elif and I have a special release today, a Ramadan Bundle! Whether it's a holiday you celebrate or not, I think you're going to like this one. Channeling the night sky, we used deep, vibrant colors and gold accents to bring a festive holiday to digital scrapbooking.

Ramadan Bundle

If you're not familiar with Ramadan, it's a special month of spiritual reflection for Muslims, observed by about one-and-a-half billion people all across the world! Ramadan is celebrated by fasting from dawn until dusk; when the sun sets, people break the fast with Iftar, a special meal shared with family and friends. Ramadan ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a big joyous holiday that often lasts for multiple days. Because Ramadan is celebrated according to the Islamic calendar, which does not align exactly with our western Gregorian calendar, it shifts around from year to year, being celebrated during different months from one year to the next; this year (2016) Ramadan falls on June 5 to July 5.

I made this bundle with Elif not only because she's one of my favorite designers, but because she celebrates Ramadan. Here's a little something she wrote for us to let you know how she feels about this time:

In my country people wait for Ramadan to come like you wait Christmas to arrive. You can relate Ramadan with Christmas indeed, they are just for different religions. What I most like about it is this feeling of togetherness. People gather with their family and friends, make dinner together. You can see neighbors sharing meals if they made something special for that evening. We have long dinners with my mom in our garden, and I love it. No any other dinner tastes like that. And at the end of long 30 days we have holiday. It's all about desserts especially about baklava and chocolate. That's why kids love the Ramadan feast. They go door to door at the very morning seeking out candies. That's a tradition for a long time. So people always have candy in their home before the feast comes. Some even call it sugar feast! Whatever we call it, it sure filled with joy, happiness and family time!

I hope you enjoy this bundle, and a special greeting to our Muslim community members: Ramdan Mubarak.
