Pinterest Success Story: A Bright Mobile
Sometimes, believe it or not, I do something that I see on Pinterest. I'm going to share one of those projects with you today. Mobiles, garlands, etc are quite popular these days, and I was determined to make one since there's not really a lot involved. When I saw this mobile, I knew that was the one I wanted to imitate. Then, a little bit later when I was at Michael's and saw some bright, fun, cheap wrapping paper, I knew my moment had come.
I don't have a sewing machine, or any knowledge of how to work one, so this project did involve sticky hands and perhaps a bit more time than if I had sewing skills (I'm not actually sure on that since I don't know how much time it takes to run a line of triangles through the sewing machine).
Everything about this mobile is pretty rough around the edges, but I've really enjoyed it in the months it's been hanging next to our bed. I'm not sure why mobiles are generally reserved for babies and children because even as an adult I find it quite soothing to watch it turn gently.
Also, it was a quick and cheap way to add a lot of color to my surroundings, which is my main concern when it comes to home matters.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

LOL! Yes! I keep a board for when I try out the things on Pinterest! https://www.pinterest.com/biz_kid1/inailedit/
Great mobile! May be a fantastic way for me to use some of my paper stash!
Lovely and colorful !
Cute and colorful! And a great way to use the little pieces of wrapping paper that I always have left at the end of the roll. I do use a lot of pins for crafting with my kids. The most succes was last week, when we used playdough to make monoprints. My daughter ransacked the whole house to find things she could push into the clay, just to see the effect after we rolled it with paint and gently pushed it down on paper. She made some really pretty prints and is now addicted: we have done it three times already :-)
Very bright and fun!! I now see a solution for my kazillion bits of paper scraps! So cute!
Super cute! good job. I love that rainbow throw you have there too!!!
Hmmm...mobiles might be a way to use some of the (tons of) empty overhead space we have in the various rooms of our house. We have vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and they're really high. Too high, considering the smallness of the rooms. Thanks for the idea!
Ohhhh....I loved your story...and your mobile with it's bright pretty colors. I work in an infant room, and you are right, they are so calming to watch, even for the adults!
It looks lovely! Congrats on actually taking a Pin and making a reality, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that most of the time I only hoard Pins, instead of actually executing the project pinned :D
shades of the sixties lol .... I love it
I give you an A plus for your first ever mobile! I may make one for myself although I would have to figure out someplace to hang it that my cat could not possibly get to it or it would only last a couple of hours before it would be on the floor torn apart and partially eaten!! But I do like the look of this, it's very pretty.
