Summer 2014 Road Trip: Eastward
Here are some snapshots from our trip east. It took us about a week to make our way from one side of the country to the other. I was surprised by how noticeably different things were as we headed east. Once we left Omaha, everything started feeling much more populated. By the time we reached Connecticut I was ready to turn the car around and head back west. All the people everywhere! I couldn't believe how much it affected me, especially since I've been living in Oregon barely a year and have spent most of my life living in much more populated places. We spent a few days in Newport, RI seeing the sites and attending a graduation ceremony. More pictures to come!
▲ Headed East: Corvallis, OR -> Boise, ID -> Greeley, CO -> Omaha, NE -> Jackson, TN -> Lynchburg, VA -> Newport, RI
▲ Getting ready to leave. One minute after taking this photo we'll discover that our car battery is dead, possibly the most anti-climactic moment of my life.
▲ We ran into delays in Wyoming due to snow, hanging out waiting for the highway to reopen.
▲ Picking up a passenger from Union University in Tennessee.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

I've been to the mansions in Newport, RI very many years ago, I think they're gorgeous!. Tell me, does The Elms still have the humongous elm trees on the lawns?
Looks like a fun trip! We live in Omaha, NE! Did you stop by our world renown Henry Doorly Zoo? We just got back from Rocky Mountain National Park and had car trouble too. I'm thinking something unexpected always happens on vacation!
Thanks for sharing! Looks like you had a fun trip :-)
Union University in Jackson, TN? If so, my mom went there back in the 1950's.. Awesome!!
The photos are breath-taking. I Like the railing aloong the stairway. Very nice!
These photos bring up Willie Nelson's song "On the Road Again" .... the car battery .... funny and a little serendipity if somewhat expensive happening :)
Thank you for sharing these photos, they are just great. It does feel like a quick little bit of travel along with you. I bet you made some great memories. Funny, the car battery will probably stay right up there in the memories too.
Wow! Monumental road trip! Reminds me when my parents would stuff me in the car and we'd drive from Ontario, Canada out to California to visit my older sister, stay a week or two then drive back. Wish I'd had a digital camera back then; my parents did not approve of developing 100s of rolls of film!
Wow, what an adventure! Too much driving for me, but I would love to see all those states.
How nice to see the photos, it´s like if we sheared those moments with you guys.
FUN!! I see you stopped in Lynchburg, VA, close to my stomping grounds. New England is very crowded. Not all of the east coast gets so snuggly. Come take a drive through coastal Carolina!
This is so awesome! My family once camped from KY across i-40 (route 66) to San Diego then across I-10 and back. It is still the best trip we ever took! So glad you had a good time! Can't wait to see the scrapbook pages!
Wow, what a trip. Would love to do this in the opposite direction. That NJ Turnpike, Atlantic City is not new to me. Did you make it into Philadelphia area or Pennsylvania at all?
love it! I'm surprised you made it all the way across in a week! :) hope you had a great time :)
