Traveling Around Jordan: Wadi Rum
Last week, or whenever it was that we were gone camping, we also spent the night in Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum is one of the most magical places I've ever visited. Wadi Rum is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a protected nature reserve. Made somewhat famous by Lawrence of Arabia, the 1962 movie was filmed there, as was the more recent film Prometheus. Dramatic rock formations surrounded by desert make for a stunning and alien location. When we go, we stay with a group of Bedouins who have opened up their tents to people wanting to get away from the hustle of daily life.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

A couple weeks ago I started reading your blog. I read 26 pages that day! I have started again, but this time from the opposite end which I should have done first time around. Your photos are gorgeous!
Despite the fact that I've read and been told that the desert gets cold at night its still hard to fathom. Then again, we still have a ton of snow and I basically start crying just looking outside. I've always wanted to ride a camel though.
Thank you for sharing your pictures. I love seeing all of the places you visit!
Wow...this is extreme camping at its best! These photos are awesome!! Just loved hearing the story and the culture of somewhere I will never get to go in my life. As always my favorite photos are the ones with you and Jordan snuggled up somewhere!! Thanks so much for sharing these with us! (Bedouin Nights is one of my favorites on this site..just love the colors!)
Oh how I would love to go on a camel ride! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. It looked like a fabulous camping trip.
So what is the weather & temperature around there in mid-November? I only ask because my husband & I have an opportunity to join a tour of Israel then... Whether or not we go depends upon being able to make arrangements for our kids (they wouldn't be coming - wouldn't want them missing nearly 2 weeks of school) & if the finances line up... Though, I have to admit, I'm also concerned whether or not I will be physically up to the challenge (and can handle all the walking, hiking & what not). Still in aqua p/t working on core strength & all. Hopeful I'll be in better shape by then, but who knows... Do I take that risk? Anyhow, one of the things they mentioned in the tour description was staying overnight in a Bedouin tent for one night, so seeing these pictures is really neat - thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you Marisa and Jordan for giving me the world. Although I would love to see these beautiful places, we will not fly (unless absolutely necessary) and I don't see flying oversees ever. I do love seeing the places you visit though...it is so much more real than seeing it on TV or books.
That looks like a lovely time! Kind of jealous now... :)
I too love to take a trip with you and Jordan, via your blog. I get to stamp my passport with places I will never see, and only dream about. Keep them coming! You two are good ambassadors and I can see that you are welcomed where ever you go.
Wow. You makes even me, a very grounded cat lady who misses home even if staying two days in a city nearby, willing to packing a backpack and go away. And, as I think I already told you, Bedouin nights is one of my all-time favorite scrapbooking kits.
Wow...I had no idea you could actually camp out with the Bedouins. That must be an incredible experience. Thanks for sharing such wonderful photos.
What an experience! Looks very adventurous. I can see how your color pallette reflects your travels.
Wonderful trip and pics.... what a place!!! And I loved your bedouin nights bundle!!!
Wow! So much fun! Love reading your blog. C:
Seriously, so incredibly awesome! I love traveling and seeing the world with you via your blog :)
