Valentine's Day & the Circus

Jordan and I celebrated Valentine's Day with the new Die Hard movie. While I don't generally go out of my way to see an action movie, I make special allowances for Bruce Willis, and a new Die Hard movie is, in my opinion, an occasion worthy of a great date night. This installment in the series was not quite as good as the previous fourth one, and I personally thought they missed a great opportunity to give Bruce a kick-a** daughter to follow in his footsteps...But the setting was interesting (Russia) and there were some spectacular slow-motion shots, so we most definitely enjoyed ourselves.

After the movie we were walking around the mall, enjoying the crowds (since it was both Valentine's Day and the weekend here, things were busy) when we were approached by a girl handing out roses, and then surprisingly her boss who chose us as "random" winners to see the circus that was in town that weekend. I'm not sure what made us stand out as circus going people, but we were quite pleased and two nights later we went out for another night of excitement.

The circus was called "Cirque de Glace," a French name for a Russian troupe, and the majority of the show was done on ice, with people flying through the air at special moments.

The show had an evolution theme, which gave the narrator a mouthful to say, and also led to some interesting themed dances. After intermission we were greeted by ice skating astronauts and then a dance about toxic waste. Overall the show was very strange and at times very wonderful, and I suppose that's what makes it the circus.
