What's Going On: August and a Bit of Now
The days get away from me, and I'm getting a bit late to be posting about August, but I will not be defeated by the date on the calendar! In an attempt to try and keep the days from getting away from me, I've been trying to get back into the discipline of taking a photo a day. It's really great to be able to look back and see a little review of the month in photos. So many of these moments would easily become forgotten, and it just takes a minute to snap a photo. I've been loosely following along with the FatMumSlim photo a day prompts, but sometimes they don't sing to me, so I do my own thing. Also, photo a day is a good way to practice grace towards yourself when you miss a day. Missing a day is not a good reason to give it up entirely, but for some reason often feels like it is. So it turns out photo a day is a very meaningful exercise. Join me! I post almost daily on Instagram. Is it weird that I want to relive my life, only so I can use Instagram the whole time? So easy. So fun! I also like to add my photos to Shuttercal, so I can view them easily, and it's easy enough to go back and add them in chunks, so I just need to remember to take the photo.
▲ Witness my empty days full of grace.
Also, I cheat, adding in bonus photos from other days to empty days where "they could have been taken."
Highlights from August
▲ Getting started on a new skill.
▲ Delicious sunsets from the back yard.
▲ The afternoon light always inspires.
▲ A real-life print out. I'm working on a real paper mini album. You better believe I'll be sharing more coming soon!
What's coming up?
- At the end of August I was a little nervous about what bundles to work on next. I didn't have any clear direction. I am now simultaneously working on four, with a fifth in the wings. A clear example of "be careful what you wish for."
- I've had a rekindling of spirit in regards to my house, so I've got a serious purging to-do list and I've been working away at it. Making things just a little bit nicer. The first step was getting my craft room ready to go (I've got priorities after all). So along with my mini album progress, I'll share a little about my new space!
- An interesting fact, in the three time Jordan and I have resettled since being married, it seems to take us a year to get comfortable and then we can venture out of the house. We've just passed that year mark here in Oregon, and I can feel the cycle taking hold of us again.
- Can I get an "amen" for the cool breeze that has just started to blow through? I thought summer was never going to end. But it seems like it might. All I can say is "Hallelujah!"

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

Instagram is super fun! Mostly because I forget by the end of the month all of the things we've crammed into it. It's fun to go back and look at posts as a group. I feel like I've accomplished something when I look at them like that! :)
I love your series of pictures, and I even love that you left the empty spots on days when the picture just didn't happen. That is a great idea. I keep meaning to try the daily photo gig, maybe this can inspire me since I can drop the worry of "what if I forget"
Capturing life in squares on a daily basis: Fun and challenging at the same time :)
I've been liking the idea of doing real-life print outs but haven't got the chance to actually do the printing. Reasons reasons reasons. I procrastinate all the time I don't even know what to do with my life anymore.
Your flower photos are stunning! And I can so relate to the FedEx sign - I need to make one of those. :)
You are an awesome artist. Even the pile of photos looks perfect. xoxox Beth
@Poodle: I'm taking the attitude that my digital creations will be saved for the future, my real-life creations are not concerned with acid-free. If they fade, they fade, then I can get rid of them and make something else. See this post for more details on my lack of interest in keeping paper around: https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/blog/my-deep-dark-secret
I'm always leary of printing my own pics....not acid-lignin free paper.. and inks?? Don't know why I'm bothered, cause I'm old enough now that photos won't fade that fast!
I can understand the 'year in a house before you call it home' spot ... we moved two years ago after being in the same house for over 30 years. It took me longer than a year to feel I was home again.....I'm not looking for winter and cooler weather here up north .... Calgary just got several days of snow .... too too too too .... much too soon :)
How wonderful you are working on a mini album!!!
For me are a real thing, a little piece of art, an actual object you can grab, take away with you and share with others with a paper book feeling, or sit in a comfy couch and look at whenever you want.
If there’s a section for mini albums, I will share the ones I do as well.
Go mini albums Go!!
