I'm at a bit of a loss for this one.

Does anyone have any ideas they could toss my way ? I'm not sure what to base this around, otherwise I guess I could just go generic with the colour palette maybe ? But I would prefer to try to keep it theme based...

Help !

Family = heritage so for me thats how I am probably going to roll with this one if I get time in October. Besides I use a lot of purple and black with heritage pages for some reason. smiley

Or there is always the "Family" aspect. So family traditions could be that trip each year you do together, or the fact you eat dinner each night or on certain nights, or like I saw in the layout below Cereal Dates where a little girl had cereal together with her Dad on many nights. So the benign , the quirky or out of the box things a family does together on a regular basis could be a focus for "traditions".

Just throwing some thoughts out there. smiley All the same look forward to seeing what you do Brenda! Always love your designs! smiley

Thanks for tossing some ideas at me Jessica, that helps a lot.

For whatever reason I can't seem to unstick my brain from connecting the term "family traditions" with seasonal holiday stuff. So it helps that you've thrown around some standard everyday unseasonal family-like things we all do regularly together without even thinking about it... even something fun and silly like eating cereal together !

I love the idea of "family heritage" too.

Both hubby and I are half scottish/half irish, so it might be fun to do something celtic-y to represent our family background and traditions that have passed down through our family over the decades. Hubby even has a kilt in his family's tartan pattern that he wears for special occasions - it makes me weak in the knees every time he puts it on - there's just something about a man in a kilt that makes me purr....

Ooooh plaid/tartan papers.... I think the light bulb just went on in my head !

Thank you thank you thank you !

Brenda, I hope you go with a Scottish/Irish/Celtic theme!

I am getting a head start on this one. Here's what I have.

smiley smiley those borders, Robin! So pretty!

dont know if any of you listen to (American) country music, but i was raised on it, and all i can think of is the Hank Williams Jr song called "family tradition"... smiley it's def not a "good moral" kind of song, but super fun to sing and gets stuck in your head...

:p

anyways...i do love the colors, and i might be able to get some time to work on this one since my kiddo is in preK this year: 4 mornings a week I have the house to myself!!!

@Robin, love the papers, especially the ones in your first preview!!

I just finished my first blogtrain contribution for november. I know I'm fairly 'new' here on PS, but I have been designing since 2008 (with many breaks though), so I hope you'll like it.

I can't seem to upload my previews for some reason, I'll try again later. Edit: Yay, it worked! smiley

Marjan, this is beautiful!

Thanks Lisel! That's nice to read. I've tried my best to stay true to the colours and the theme, although the theme for me was quite difficult. I don't have a large family, so I consider my friends to be my family too, as I did my pets when I had 2 cats and a dog. Plus, I'm from the Netherlands, and we don't have holidays like Thanksgiving or anything like that, so I kept it as simple as possible.

Wow, Tammy, beautiful! I especially like that wire leaf!

Hello, I think I'm back! New site, new brand, same girl.

Live Nov. 1 on my new site.

Thank you Lisel!

In my best scottish accent (and being sure to roll my R's):

"Aye, a wee bit o' scottish trrradition forrr all the lads and lasses."

Brenda, lol, sweet!

@brenda I think I just saw the lights of heaven. Your kit is so awesome! Love the scottish theme.

Thanks for the kind words ladies.

I have to admit, I'm pretty darned proud of how my papers turned out... they look just like real wool flannel tartan material, which is exactly what I was aiming for.

Brenda, your plaids are fabulous. Well done!

I really liked the colors this month, but never did get any great ideas for the theme. So, when in doubt (or a creative slump)...throw flowers at it!

And, it turned out gorgeous, Diane!

What a gorgeous color palette and contributions!

Thank you Lisel.

I also made a printable 8-1/2 X 11 Birthday Board, but I really don't know if it will be of interest to anyone. I have a wooden one at home, and it is a favorite. If you aren't familiar with them, you hang a tag with name and date, under the month of the birthday

Hello everyone! I am new here smiley I love designing and wanted to know if anyone can post for the blog train? I just need to host the files on my blog, right?
