How to Use Pocket Cards On Your Digital Scrapbooking Layout
Do you love pocket cards but never use them? Do they feel like they're only for pocket scrappers? I challenged my Creative Team to use pocket cards on their traditional digital scrapbook layouts and the results are great! On a traditional layout you can use the pocket card as a layering piece, a complement to your photo, or even as the title. Hopefully you'll find some inspiration here to use them on your own layout. Be sure to share if you do!
This layout by Gina uses the pocket card as a nice complement to the photo. Keeping them about the same size keeps their importance equal and the pocket card can stand in for the title of the layout. She's using these fun Fido Journal Cards.
This layout by Tiffany has a similar look to a pocket style layout, but there aren't any pockets! As I wrote about here, a grid is an easy way to organize a lot of stuff, and pocket cards fit easily when you're making a tidy layout like this.
She's using these pocket cards from my first July Good Life bundle and I'll share them here because I love them!
This dreamy layout by Marlyn uses the pocket card as a secondary title. She's using these lovely scripture pocket cards by Gina.
Another dreamy layout, this one by Bina, uses a journal card and she actually put journaling on it! What an idea! If you're like me a journal card can be a good reminder to actually include some journaling.
This fun holiday layout by Linda uses a fun wordy pocket card to add a festive feeling and then she too does a little journaling on another journal card. Amazing! She's using these fun pocket cards from Sharon-Dewi's Holiday Magic kit.
Beatrice uses a nice grid layout here to include a decorative pocket card and some fun photos.
I like how Ali uses this quote pocket card on her layout, and the fun one with the flamingo!
This layout by Becky uses a decorative pocket card as a layer behind her title. A decorative pocket card like this can quickly add more interest than a paper would.
I am shocked again by Linda's use of a journal card for journaling! Truly, when I gave the Creative Team this challenge I never thought about the journaling. Get the journal card she used right here.
And finally, this layout by Bourico uses a fun pocket card to quickly add a fun paint look and a nice sentiment. Get this pocket card here.
Well I hope you were all as inspired as I was by these layouts! Although you may already have realized you could journal on a journal card. (Can you believe they let me write the blog posts here?) But there are some other great examples here for people more clued in than me. Please share below if you make a traditional layout with a journal card! Find all the DigitalScrapbook.com journal cards here. Or better yet, filter to the size of card you need here using our Dimensions filter at the bottom of the filter list.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

That is such an obvious great use idea I never thought of, because of the item identity, lol.
I do sometimes. Here is one. https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/carrie-barron/gallery/any-day-of-the-week-layout-pocket-template-black
Lovely pages, all! And Linda, I'm flattered that my layout is inspiring you! Steal away. :)
Another idea... I like to use journal cards in photo spots on templates. :-)
Thank you for these wonderful ideas!
All such fabulous layouts! What a great challenge as I never really think to use them on my traditional layouts. I'm feeling inspired by Becky's use of a journal card as a mat layer for her embellishments. Think I'm going to have to do that myself. :-)
all beautiful pages!
This has been really helpful, I've never known how to use these effectively. They don't seem very popular in UK layouts but I have always liked them.
