Any Texans want to commiserate?

In light of our "rolling blackouts" during this unprecedented winter weather??? We were without power for about 33.5 hours and the inside temps were @42 degrees....anyone else?

A shock to the system for sure! I hope you all are well and power is restored!

Thanks! The power has stayed on but I can't believe it got down to -2 degrees in TEXAS!!! smiley

smiley Hope you are fine, Tina. I saw some footage, it can only get better. Hopefully power stays on. Blackouts are the worst.

Hope everyone is doing okay! What a winter. It seems like it is snowing everywhere. It's still sunny every day here. I guess I am actually too far south.

Thank you, all! We still have power but now since systems are coming back online (and the "rolling blackouts" have subsided), we now have water treatment plant issues, along with broken water mains, and are under a Boil Water Notice for the time being...good times!

We were without power next door to you for two days. It came on just after dark the second day, but went out again for half a day the next day. Our hot water heater is electric. We do have a gas stove, so I was able to cook and heat up water. The first day was especially scary because I could stand in my house and hear frozen tree branches falling from very high up and crashing loudly when hitting the ground, and it was MUCH louder when I went outside. Even falls that were so far away that I couldn't see anything sounded like they were falling in my own yard. We did sustain some fence damage from fallen limbs from a tree next door.

Oh? LA or OK? And that wasn't us this storm but I have been in those before too...the creaking and breaking of the ice and trees is CREEPY! Glad you all are OK too!

In January 1998 we had an ice storm like no other .... it brought down huge hydro towers in -30C weather ... we were out for 11 days ... others for almost 2 weeks ... we moved in to the house our boys had just rented with two other boys (university students) for 9 of those 11 days ... trees lost half of themselves .. we'd lie there at night in the cold listening to huge branches breaking above us ... hydro wires hanging almost to the road ... hydro workers were out all hours in that weather removing towers/replacing towers etc etc ... I was in school at the time as well .. fun times ... I hope you are getting back to normal soon

Oh my, Susan! I was in one of those too - back in December 2000!!! smiley I had a scheduled move and the place where I moved to (several hours away) had a huge ice storm the day before we moved and so we also moved into 2 weeks without power and the cracking of the ice-laden tree branches cracking and falling!!!!
