What quality should you save digital paper at in Photoshop?

Hello. smiley
I'm just starting to design digital paper in Photoshop, and my files seem to be huge. I'm saving them as JPGs (12x12, 300dpi) at 12 quality. Is this too high? I wanted to make sure they printed okay, but they're about 20 megabytes each. Maybe that's normal? I've never paid much attention to it.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

I usually save mine at 9 or 10 quality. Saving at 12 often seems to make the file bigger than it needs to be.

Thanks so much, Marisa. I'll lower it to 10 and will call it good. smiley
Enjoy your week!

Ah, I'll have to try this. I never thought to change that. I have learned a few tricks to keep the file size down but I'll give this a try, too.

Hi Tina,
I tried it, and it's amazing how much the size went down!

If people are only printing at 12" then I would assume ok. As a photographer, I always saved at biggest etc because my clients needed to be able to print to huge huge sizes - but nobody is printing their scrapbook pages that huge! smiley
