July 2021 Art Journal Challenge #1

I'm excited to announce a new set of digital scrapbooking layout challenges this month. These will all focus on the idea of art journaling, or creating a digital collage. The prompts are pretty loose, so feel free to interpret them as works for you.

You don't need to use this month's collage kit to complete this exercise, but do prepare all the files you want to use ahead of time, so you can just pull stuff from one folder onto your canvas.

This month's collage was inspired by the word "pause." If you'd like, take a few minutes before you begin to consider how this word makes you feel. You can write down what comes to you and include it in your layout, or simply use the feelings that arise to create your digital collage.

For this challenge, I'd like to encourage you to just "drag and drop." Don't spend a lot of time picking and choosing what to add to your layout, just grab what catches your eye, drag it onto your canvas and move it around a bit. The idea is not to get some sort of perfect arrangement, but to enjoy the process of creating.

If you need help knowing when you are "finished" try setting a timer before you begin. Then you can just sit back and relax while you enjoy placing graphics on your canvas.

I'll post a new thread in two weeks so that we can revisit Pause, create a new layout, and see if anything has changed in the meantime.

The Details

  1. Challenge ends when July does.
  2. Be sure to post your layout in this month's completion thread if you would like to earn download credits. More details here.
  3. You must tag your layouts with this tag: july 2021 art journal
  4. See entered layouts here.
  5. See updated rules here.

I ended up using all the papers, then somehow I got on an every-other-element kick. I had to stop before I ended up using them all in one layout. smiley
