Storage sites for blog trains

I wasn't sure where to put this question, so hopefully it's ok here! I've been using the free version of Dropbox to upload the kits for my blog train contributions, and I got an email yesterday saying that my link had been "temporarily suspended for generating too much traffic." I'm not looking to upgrade to the subscription version at this time, as I'm only designing sporadically and we've got a budget to stick to. My twofold question is, a) Has this happened to any of you, and how to fix it so I don't have a broken link sitting in the blog train thread, and b) Aside from Dropbox, what site would you recommend using in the future? (I tried Google Drive during the designer madness challenge, and could NOT make sense of how to get it to link.)

We have some tips here for hosting, with the main idea being that you can send your kit to me and we can host it for you smiley

For Google Drive, once your zip file is uploaded, right click on it in the web viewer and choose "get link". Then you want to switch from restricted, to "anyone with the link". That should work.

I use google drive too. So I am not familiar with any other offerings out there.

I was using three sites at one stage: Dropbox, Google Drive and Jumpshare. For financial reasons, I closed my paid account at Dropbox (as it was the most expensive of the three); all my blog links are now on Google Drive, and I'm planning to backup other stuff onto Jumpshare (when I have time!). From memory, I have about 8 EHDs on which I have backed up files in various categories: For example, one EHD has only fonts, another has only graphics, another has only pictures...things like that. My aim is to eventually have everything backed up both online and on EHD.

I too use Dropbox, & Google Drive...for the latter, just follow what's in Marisa's reply. I also use MediaFire but unlike some others, I have had no issues with the site or uploading whatsoever.

There is also Deviantart which can be interesting to share digital files even if it is not its only function. It allows artists to publish what they do in their galleries. It can include files to download. It is also a good way to gain visibility thanks to web referencing and Tags. However, an account is required to download the available content.

There is also Amazon Drive, all Amazon customers get 5 gb. I've used it for a very long time and it works great for sharing files etc..
