For the last few weeks - after my PC was "refurbished" (with second hand but good replacements - CPU, graphics card, mother board, Power supply and RAM memory - I am still using my old Hard drive) I have been getting some images "missing" when I am in the forums. Sometimes the LOAD Image command works and sometimes it doesn't.
Most images are present, but not all the times, and they change as well. It is not always the same images. They randomly change. The links to the gallery pages all work fine. If any of my own images go missing from the forums, I end up having to "reload" from my gallery page which is annoying.
IS there some piece of software or hardware I am missing in my "newly rebuilt" PC?
I am using WIN 10, and an Asus GTX 750 Ti video card
I have no trouble accessing this DS and logging in.
I also have no trouble access or watching Youtube videos either.

I think this kind of problem can be caused by the web browser.
To start with you can try another browser and see if the problems are still there or not.
I use Firefox and it is updated very regularly.
Even if a browser is updated regularly, there may be problems with caching, extensions or antivirus software.
Ok I guess I can try another browser..

I have tried both Opera and Chrome browsers and these missing images in the forums are still missing!!
The links to the gallery pages work fine. The images do show up on their gallery pages. it is only the Forums where these image links are broken.
Have not tried the Edge browser - I really dont want to encourage any thing from Microsoft right now.
It should not be a big deal except that I do have to go to the gallery page to see the missing images.
Most of the images show up just fine in the forums but some threads have 1 missing image. and other threads have 2 or 3 images missing - it changes randomly...
Sometimes my own images are missing and sometimes the images are from other creators here.
I usually find that if my own images are missing, I end up having to reload them up to the forums - which is the annoying part.

Bourico, Linda and Tricia's images still dont show up for me. They dont show up in the June completed threads either.

Bina's image does not show up.
These are last months images and even though the threads are locked, the images are still missing.
So far no issues with any July images, but it is early days yet!! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks Robynne! Those images are broken for me as well. I think the issue here is that the layouts were edited after they were linked, which broke the links to the original images.
I'll see if I can find a way to prevent this from happening...

OK an update - I just lost one of my own images in the forums so I had to replace it, but yes I do recall editing that page in the gallery, after it was posted.
Linda now has 6 images missing in her Completed Thread. They were all fine the last time I looked, an hour or so ago.

Another one of my images was lost today - 29 July. I dont recall editing it - but I have replaced it in the forum and on the completed thread page.
In the meanwhile, there are several of Linda's Layouts that are "missing" although the links to their original gallery pages are fine.

Jumping in on this one. My layouts seem to be staying in the gallery and the different SLM challenge threads fine, but in the completed thread page, everything I've posted since last Monday keeps disappearing. When I go to edit the post, the html for those layouts are completely gone. I first noticed it this afternoon, and re-added the missing layouts, but by the time I went to upload the next layout a few hours later, they were gone again. I also saw comments from Bourico and AMarie saying they were having similar issues, though those comments are also missing from their posts now.

So sorry for the frustrations.
The thumbnail issue should now be fixed for new layouts going forward, but unfortunately that won't fix thumbnails that are already posted and broken. Unfortunately there's not an easy way to fix these, though the broken thumbnails still work as links to the actual layout.
If you want to fix a currently borken thumbnail, you will need to go to the layout itself, click "edit," then "save" (you don't need to change anything, but saving the layout will update the image url), then copy the layout image url again and paste the new url in the forum post. So sorry for the painful process.
Again: this should be fixed for new layouts going forward.

Hello, keep all the codes of your thumnails as I do. My images was erassed and I just had to put all the codes I had on a sheet and all my Images are there again.
Yes. It is still happening and it is very frustrating.
Especially frustrating to have to reload images despite knowing that I have not touched or edited them after the first posting.
I am worried that if most of my images in the completed thread disappear on the day Marisa does her count, then I wont get my CU points even though I know I have completed 12 LOs for August.
I would like to know WHY this is still happening.
Has the server run out of room to store 10 years worth of images?

First of all, please know that Marisa will count *all* images in the forum posts, including the broken ones.
The reason this is happening is complicated, but has to do with the fact that a few weeks ago I implemented a solution to try to fix old images being cached on the site for a while after a layout image was updated. However, the problem is that with my "solution," new thumbnail image urls were being generated every time a layout was edited--even if the image itself was not changed. Which meant that any time a layout was edited at all, any links to thumbnails for that layout (e.g. in the forums) would be broken, and you would need ot grab the new image url and paste it in the forums over the old image url.
There is no issue with server space, and the layouts themselves are not disappearing from the server: only the thumbnail images that are pasted in the forums.
As I said above, this should now be fixed for any new layouts created, but will continue to be an issue for layouts that were uploaded during the last few weeks, as there is no easy way to avoid that.
This was just a mistake on my part, and I appologize for not forseeing this problem. Thanks always for your patience and understanding.

OK, if the number of set thumbnails are visible to Marisa when counting points, then it's ok, don't need to set them again then, (Jordan:"First of all, please know that Marisa will count *all* images in the forum posts, including the broken ones.")
I can see my last scrap for this month (11/10) now further. Only the image for LC spotlight I had edited again, the other thumbnails between 5-10/10 including HTML code missing thumbnails, not.
So for me the problem is solved.
