Layout Inspiration Ideas

Hello!! Lately I've been a creative slump. Not just with scrapbooking but everything (and I have A LOT of hobbies, lol). But, I'm curious what everyone does for new scrapbook layout inspiration? I obviously look through the gallery here and Pinterest but nothing is jumping out to me. I want to try something new and exciting but don't know what. Any ideas?

I'd look into trying a different style of scrapbooking. Personally I've been trying to do more blending in my layouts lately, which I haven't done much of in the past. So it gives me something new to look for.

Hi Melanie,

if you have a lot of hobbies, then at some point you also exhaust your creative powers. Maybe choose what is more and what is less important to you.

If that is not the case, I would look at homepages of design and typography artists for inspiration, but not necessarily copy, but inspired by the images it into their own ideas that will hopefully come.

For example, i took a 6 year break from scrapbooking and deleted my blog when i got forum tired and a new phase in my life came up. But I have not lost the love of graphics.

I picked it up again during the lockdown and am highly motivated to learn new things again and I'm 71.

My inspiration was the Canadian. typograph Mariam Bantje of which I have the already since about 2010 the mail permission to scrap and publicly show their works without finanzial interest and 2 German graphic brothers Thomas and Martin Poschauko with their first design book "Nea Machina".You have there perhaps own favorite artists. Designers are also inspired by natural or everyday design in everyday life.

Here are a few links to browse:

@Melanie Nutile, smiley My creativity comes in sets, like waves, if that makes any sense. I don't know if that helps you but I think that 100% are impossible all of the time. We also need coasting time... like there is no white without black. I also can hear you when you talk about the pinterest pit....
I usually feel sort of the way you are describing for about 1-4 months each year. I am just accepting it as part of the hand I was dealt and when I get in a mood I usually go from the photos, their colors and start fooling around with a new set of styles or brushes or some sweet graphic that I make a pattern from. With other hobbies , like painting, it is about the same, I paint from photos and mostly only do plein air sketches. Sometimes, pinterest can be a rabbit hole and cause a sort of image overkill with me. I can turn off the box at one point and look at my pics again.

@Doska St.: Thanks, Doska! These are great links. smiley

Scraplifting can be a good way to keep your hand in it, without having to "think creatively" too much.

Challenge yourself by picking a layout at random, and try to replicate it. It might not result in a finished page that you will LOVE, but it will get you going in a specific direction for a short time period.

Thank you everyone for the ideas! @Bina Greene you are right when you say it just comes and goes. I suppose this is something I need to realize more is not just a "me" thing. @Marisa, I definitely will look into different styles, it may be just what I need 😊
