Robyn, like I just told Tricia, I am so, so happy to see you guys sharing second results. I mean, that has to mean you are having fun with this, right? That is all I could have ever hoped for and more. smiley

Love, love, love your floral overlay--so versatile and appealing. And I adore your deliciously textured peach paper. Very pretty and perfectly professional. You've got this technique figured out!

We are all so lucky to have such talented, generous designers (like yourself) sharing creations like this in the Commons. I hope everyone appreciates that fact as much as I do! Thanks so much for sharing your second results and listing the assets you've used. I know it is an extra step, and a little bit of work to keep track and post that information up, but I sure appreciate it and I am sure others do, too. What a happy, fun day this is for me!

Thanks Annette.
Hope this is correct. If not, please let me know.
Thanks

Gail, that link does show your picture. If you want it to show in the comment on this thread, click on the first icon on the upper left in the "Reply" box. It is yellow and is suppose to be a mountain with the sun...'a picture.' When you paste your link in that pop-up box, then the picture shows here.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. In the link, right-click on the picture and "Copy Image Link." That is what gets pasted, rather than the site link for the photo.

You will also want to put in a size, maybe 600x600...because full size doesn't fit in the forum.

Nice pattern, by-the way. I always enjoy anything with butterflies. smiley

I tried, but nothing is showing up.

Annette, I tried to use your technique in my software (Artisan 6 by Panstoria) and although it can be done (I read through your tutorial and had to configure things differently in my software) it didn't work well in my software (though your tutorial was awesome!)----showed lines, etc. So, I tried things on my own, and although they aren't perfect, I don't think they turned out too badly!
Here are my first, second, and third attempts.

Using Creative Fabrica teacup, spoon and lace elements:

Using Creative Fabrica teacup, spoon, lace and cupcake elements:

Using Graphic Monarch rose and forget-me-not cluster elements:

Gail, I use Imgur as well.
Here's a step by step:

After you upload to Imgur, ON Imgur click on the photo you want to place here in this thread.
On Imgur, a pop-up should occur, and on the bottom of that there should be a "size" section.
Click on the blue text "large thumbnail".
Then, higher up on that pop-up should be a "direct link", and on the right side of that should be a blue button that says "copy".
Click on the "copy" button.

Come back, then, to Digital Scrapbook and if you already have it open in a tab on your browser, I suggest opening ANOTHER tab and having Digital Scrapbook open on both. That way you can look at my post here in one, and on the other complete the steps.

Then, here in this thread, click the "post reply" button.
Just above the box to type your "reply", click on the yellow mountain and sun button (that Tricia talked about).
There will be a pop-up, and where the cursor is blinking, paste the link you copied from Imgur.
Then click the "ok" button.
Then in the box you would type a "reply" should appear a link in square parenthesis.
Then click the "Post Reply" button.
Your image should appear in this thread now.

I hope that helps!

Lisel, do you still get those options on Imgur? I haven't had them for a while. In fact, I stopped using Imgur a couple Blog Tains ago and started uploading my pics to my blog instead because Imgur was only showing very low rez images when I tried to post my previews in the forums. I went there today and was able to grab a URL for a picture, but there was no "large thumbnail" etcetera options like there used to be. Not that I could find anyway. Weird. Maybe I am not looking in the right spot. Today I just right-clicked on the image and copied the image address, plugged that into the "insert/edit" image box here at the forums and picked 700 by 700 pixels and it worked perfectly, but I am curious if I am just not seeing all the options like you mentioned above in your directions.

Wow--you did three! And basically had to write your own tutorial on how to get 'er done. That is amazing! Where there is a will, there is a way, right? I was curious to take a peek at the software you are using, so I Googled it up and took a nose around the site. It is very sleek and looks super user-friendly with tons of options. I can see why people are using it. Of course, I couldn't see all the features, nor did I dive into the tutorials for using it, but from what I could see it reminds me a bit of the software sites have for you to design photo books to be printed. (And those are tons of fun to play around with and you can make some very fun layouts without spending a year figuring out how to do it.)

Your papers turned out super cute. I adore the vintage elements you used for the first two and the red rose on the third is just plain gorgeous. I think you did a fantastic job making patterned papers, Lisel! Thanks so much for giving it a go and sharing your results with us. Color me "impressed." smiley I am so very happy this Scraptorial could serve as a jumping-off point and inspire such pretty results from you with Artisan 6.

Gail, when I click on your link, I can see your pattern just fine and that works for me. Tricia and Lisel shared some additional help for how to get the image to post in the forum, so I won't repeat them. You can "edit" your original post and try out their suggestions if you are of a mind to, but you sure don't have to. There is also a "preview" button you can use to check out what your post will look like when you post it, before you post it. And you can keep editing and previewing as many times as you like. Once you hit the "preview" button, just scroll down the page until you see the "post" and "preview" options again. I do that a lot before I get things looking like I want when I post in a forum. smiley And thank goodness there isn't a limit on how many times you can make use of the "edit" button. I always think I have proofread and then see another typo. Sometimes days later! I swear there are little gremlins in the machine that rearrange the letters while I am sleeping. LOL And thanks, Tricia and Lisel for stepping up and helping while I was lost in Photoshop working on next week's Scraptorial. smiley I appreciate it and I am sure Gail does, too. THIS is what makes this place so awesome. Everyone here is so supportive and helpful. smiley

Now, on to the really important stuff--your pattern is beautiful! I just love the loose sketchy style of the daisy and leaves and butterfly you chose to combine for this. The whimsical scatter-pattern you've created really works so well with this style of elements. It reminds me of a sweet summery fabric print that I would have to have a yard or two of if I saw it on the bolt. It's really lovely and I am so happy you tried out this pattern-making method and shared your results with us even though posting a picture was yet another skill you had to take on! Two gold stars for you today!

It was so very nice to see you here today, Gail. I don't want to overwhelm you, but have you thought about joining in at the Commons and sharing your designs? It's a lot of fun and I know people would love this paper if you do feel like sharing it there. No pressure. I just thought I would mention it as an option if you are perhaps interested in such a thing.

Oh, wow, Annette! I didn't realize others don't see what I do!
Yes, I uploaded today and used it as I mentioned to Gail.
That IS weird!
Next time I upload, I will try and do it the way you and Tricia mentioned.
There may be two ways to do it, maybe, and that's good to know!

And thank you for your encouragement with my patterns!

Gail, I have been using Imgur for years, and this is what I do:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO ADD AN IMGUR IMAGE TO THE DIGITAL SCRAPBOOK FORUMS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(These instructions assume that you are an Imgur member, and that you have images posted there.)

[01] On Imgur, hover your mouse over your name in the top right corner of the page; a list of options will appear.

[02] Click on the word "Images"

[03] A screen opens with all your images in a grid. (There can be multiple pages.)

[04] Navigate to the desired image, then click on that image.

[05] This opens a new screen as a larger image with link options on the right hand side. Underneath the list of link options is the word "Sizes", with various size options. I usually use the "Large Thumbnail" option, so click on that to select it.

[06] Now, because you're posting the image in a forum, you'll need to use the "BBCode (message boards & forums)" option; click on the "Copy" button next to that option. This copies the link onto your computer clipboard. I usually paste this link into a Notepad document, until I'm ready to use it.

[This image has the above options highlighted with red arrows]

[07] Now to insert the image into a comment or forum post on Digital Scrapbook. If you've saved your image at a forum-appropriate size (say, 600x600 pixels), you don't even need to use the "Insert Image" button; you can just paste the Imgur link straight into the comment.) Otherwise, click on the icon that looks like a picture of mountains [above left of the comment window] Paste the image link into the "Image URL" text box, enter the width and height into the appropriate text boxes, then click OK.

Hope this helps!

This is another patterned paper & overlay. I like to offset patterns, not just have them in a straight grid. Is there a hack to offsetting patterns? I do mine manually; I have saved blank 12x12 papers, with half-inch, 1 inch and 2 inch guides already in place, so that it's easier to place items.

Thank you Tricia

You are a star.

Thanks. Never done this before, so it is a BIG learning curve for me.

Hi Annette

Thanks for the compliment on the paper. I am sure I could try that, just tell me how I go about it.

Thanks Robyn

Will give it a try. And Thanks to all the ladies who have tried to help me. I really appreciate it.

Here is another paper using Gina Jones_My everyday July 2022. I thought I would try elements from 1 kit only.

Thanks Robyn. It worked.

Thanks for letting me know it's just me. I feel so attacked right now. smiley I probably flailed and changed a setting within Imgur and didn't realize or something. I am good at doing things like that, unfortunately. Will do some more research and try to figure it out. I miss my "big thumbnail" option. smiley

Oh, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your patterns, Lisel. I hope you had fun and you make mo' and mo' pretty patterns! smiley

If you go here and scroll down to the section entitled "The DigitalScrapbook.Com Commons" you can open up each section and read about sharing at the Commons. If you have any questions, you can site mail me, or post here . . . someone will help! smiley

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your pattern results . . . both of them. The second one is very fun, and opens up more possibilities for using kits you own by other designers to make your kit stash more useable perhaps. I hadn't even thought of that option. The second paper wouldn't be one you could share in the Commons unless the kit you used is licensed for commercial use, but the other one would be if you downloaded the assets from here under the commercial-use option. You can read more about all this in the link I shared with you above. Hope to see you there!

Oh, no! Don't feel attacked! ROFL!
Thank you for the praise on the patterns.
I will play some more!

Thanks, Annette! *heart**heart**heart*

Hi Annette & everyone else playing along,
This is strictly not PS related but regarding pattern (if one can call it that!!) making in Powerpoint. I know it doesn't belong in this thread but just wanted to share what I tried my hand at. The first one is a hand drawn pattern on PPT, other is the original one in all its 'glorious' colours! & the blue & brown is the same but with changed hues and saturation ...I think!
I have yet to get to your tutorial Annette, but I eventually will! So,...critiques are all welcome, positive & negative!! smiley
Meanwhile:

If they are ok, I thought I will share in the Commons as I had shared two or three before...also, the background too was done on PPT. Also, why do my images alone have that text and numbers after the posted images?

They are certainly okay to share in the Commons. We never know until we share what things scrappers are going to like and snatch up. Only way to know, is to share and see. I say "Go for it!"

The reason there was code peeking out around your posted pictures was that there was too much of it. Why? I don't know. I see that happen to people a lot in their posts. Little errant bits of code. I did use my Fancy-Schmancy Moderator Powers™ to edit your entry and remove the offending bits. I hope that is okay with you. smiley

Hello, Chitra. I am so happy to see you here! YAY! smiley

Of course, your patterned efforts belong in this thread! We aren't software snobs here. smiley Any skill level, any software, or any technique is welcome to be shared. You've made me realize that I know nothing about PowerPoint except my kids used it in school and my husband uses it at work to do group presentations. I think I should be very impressed that you are bending it to your will and making it create scrapbooking assets. Whatever works, I say!

I like your patterns. They have that loose, artsy feel that is so popular for artsy pages and art journaling. Very free and organic and really interesting to look at. I especially like the blue and brown . . . I would think those would make especially cool backdrops for pictures on a scrapbook page.

Thanks so much for sharing your hand-drawn patterns with us, Chitra. I hope you do get a chance to peek at the scraptorial at some point, but no pressure. It isn't going anywhere and I will be around whenever you get to it. I loved seeing your patterns and I loved seeing YOU here today! smiley

Yes, Annette, so nice to see the posted images without the codes & thank you for removing them! smiley smiley

Thank you also for your uplifting & encouraging words! PPT was the first programme I used when we first bought our first computer! So I am most at ease with it, sort of like close my eyes & do stuff smiley , but nowadays I'm using PS more after joining the Commons but whenever I'm using it, I'm always cautious, my senses fully alert & on the look-out for what's lurking around the PS 'corners'!!!...am not an expert like you all here! smiley
I too prefer the blue & brown, & just to assure you, am checking out the tutorial & see if the get the hang of it. Seeing some of the work created by others & reading how they went about doing it, or finding a work around for things that didn't work out & solving issues just makes me realize what experts are around me!!! and what a lost babe in the woods I am! smiley But anyway, I shall try to persevere & see if I succeed! So...wish me luck!

Hi again Annette, just went through the tut...& I realized as I was going through the pages, it can be done on PPT itself...!!! (with more ease & surety as I know where & for what the tools are, their purpose, etc - strictly speaking for myself here smiley smiley ). After creating any desired pattern in PPT, I import the image into PS for gamut checking, sizing, hue & saturation, etc!!! And...voila!!!

I will do one, definitely not hand drawn this time!, but with chosen elements like you said, just as I described above & post it here. Hope you wont be too disappointed or in the extreme case, be too mad at me, for finding a solution as per my capability. I know you wont be...you're too generous for that, as I've experienced it first hand! smiley smiley

Once again, hello to all!
After commenting here, I got down to try & create a pattern on PPT using different elements like Annette said & this is what I came up with.
Images 1. Original, 2. Black & white at 75%, 3. Grayscale & 4. Collage of all in reduced sizes on diff backgrounds & a couple more in gold and washout.

Please let me know how they turned out, ...I'm pleased but still it matters what you all think!

Chitra, I'm so impressed wth your patterns! You've done such a great job with them. And I'm SUPER impressed that you did them in Powerpoint, and not an image program! It just shows what a creative person can do when they put their mind to it.

Chitra I love these rose floral patterns!
