Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

I'm new to both of these programs. Actually, I'm new to digital scrapbooking. I have been using simple photo editing programs for my memory books/junk journals, but now that I am going to start working with the digital scrapbooking I need to make a decision. I tried Photoshop a few years back and just couldn't figure it out. (Didn't spend much time so that is my fault). I thought about just buying Photoshop elements but I notice nearly all the tutorials here on this site are for the full photoshop program.

On youtube most elements tutorials are 8 to 11 years old so not much help there.

Suggestions? I don't mind spending a few months learning either program, but hope to only do it once with one of the two. I haven't purchased either at this point as I was waiting for PSE23.

I would be happy to pay for a full tutorial course if anyone knows of one using the most current software but all the courses seem to be very dated as well.

Suggestions? Before I spend time learning the wrong thing?

Thank you! I'm truly a beginner here. But, I tend to jump into things all the way when I get started and I am a quick learner.

If you want, I have a Scrap Bootcamp starting October 19th. We are using PaintShop Pro, however. But you can do the whole bootcamp using the trial version of PaintShop Pro, so you won't have to purchase anything.

Of course, if you have a specific reason to use Adobe, I guess this won't help too much.

Registration is free and is available HERE.

Thank you. The only reason I am looking at PhotoShop is the huge number of faded, and some torn, old photos I have to work with. When I did test it a year or so ago I was amazed at the ability to bring back seriously faded images to almost what they once were.

I have never looked into Paint Shop but will take a look and see if it has similar capabilities for what I'm needing. My scrapbooking is more an accessory to photo presentation in handmade journals and albums than a main part of it. I'm wanting to add minimal words and element layers to brighten pages or bring back memories and add interest to the days gone by. The photos will still be the main point of interest in all my pages. I need a great photo editing program along with one with layer capability for the scrapbooking part. I've just been using Picverse to try and improve quality but that won't work now for what I'm trying to do.

Thank you again and I will see what I can figure out around Paint Shop.

I will sign up, and thank you again. The offer for the entire Paintshop bundle was too good to pass up.

Linda, if you want information on restoring faded photos, you can check this article:
https://scrapbookcampus.com/2018/03/how-to-fix-faded-photos/

And for general photo fixes, here is a webinar I did for Corel:

And there are more classes inside our membership, but with those links above, you would get a good start.

See you in the Bootcamp!

Thank you smiley

All my old 110s are so faded. I will start there.

I will definitely join your campus after the boot camp. That is exactly what I am looking for. I look forward to learning everything I can about digital scrapbooking and photo repair. Unfortunately a lot of my photos were scanned with an early visioneer scanner in the mid 1990s and they are low resolution. I took it around to all my relatives and scanned their photos when I would visit. They are all gone now so I have to work with what I have. And, my photo's of my children are pretty faded. I had just about given up on finding a fix I could handle since I literally have thousands. So, I look forward to everything I can learn about the processes.

Thank You. I did get the ebook.
