Can you open AI files in Photoshop. I have PSCS5 on my laptop and am getting the cloud versions on our iMac, because my old version will not work with the iMac's new upgrade to the OS.
I love Ai especially its exporting layers to psd but as Marisa said, the files cannot extend a certain size in order to export all layers properly. That size also depends on hardware.
AI files tend to be short on pixels so smaller than the norm for working in PS ... expect that when you open it but yes, they open in PS and if you go to AdobeFirefly ... you can create your own AI ... it's a lot of fun and can be absolutely hilarious at times
I have no problems opening AI files in Photoshop. I have Windows 10 and the PS photography version.
It will usually import it, but you may lose various capabilities depending on how it's imported.

@Susan: I think she's talking about the extension .AI which is used by Illustrator, and not AI artificial intelligence. It's a confusion!
