I wondered if anyone here use a digital drawing tablet/pad (like for instance one of the Wacom drawing tablets) and have any experience with it? I owned a small drawing pad several years ago, but did not use it a lot, and I never tried it for scrapbook designing purposes. I guess the technique and pen quality is probably better today, however I don't know if it is really worth buying a new tablet?
I draw on my 10th gen ipad along with Procreate - not sure if that is what you mean by tablet. My son used to use a Wacom tablet for his artwork, but now just uses the Samsung pen on his galaxy 24 Ultra.
I used to have a wacom tablet but never used it much. I use the pencil on my iPad all the time for drawing though. It's much easier to draw right on the tablet, than on an imaginary tablet like you used to have to do with the wacom tablet.
My husband got me a wacom drawing tablet several years ago for our anniversary. I am quite happy with it!
My daughter has a wacom drawing pad and like Marisa she found it a little more difficult than drawing directly on a tablet.
Thanks so much to all of you (Kelley, Marisa and Jessica) for answering. I can imagine that it would be easier to draw directly on an iPad instead of using a Wacom tablet. I have an older iPad, which unfortunately can't be used with Procreate, so I will have to buy a new one if I want to try Procreate. I have just downloaded both Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Fresco, and I already own Corel's Painter Essentials, so for now I think I will play a bit with the new Apps, before I do anything else.
I probably wasn't very clear, but I have the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16", which you draw right on the tablet itself - like an ipad. I have used Fresco before on it, tho I just prefer to draw in Photoshop. My daughter has the Wacom drawing pad, which is like the mousepad setup.
I used a Bamboo Fun for about 15 years. It died on me last summer and I replaced it with a Wacom Intuos Medium. I even wrote an article about it: https://scrapbookcampus.com/2024/07/using-my-new-graphic-tablet/
@Jessica: Have you tried drawing in Illustrator? I would prefer to have my illustrations in vector and often when I convert a raster image I lose some of the small details like circles, or round edges on lines. I've tried the iPad version of Illustrator, but not had much luck and didn't know if it was the iPad version or just trying to draw in vector format.
Thanks for the information, I will have a look at the Wacom Cintiq tablets for sure.
Thanks for the information and article about how to set it up. Seems like it might be a bit easier to draw directly on a tablet, however this is a much cheaper option, so I will take that into consideration too.
