Description
This is the opening page of the memory book for my Maggie.
Journaling reads:
I have had a lot of pets in my life. When I was a child we had a cockapoo named Collette who was just a precious. I’ve had a lot of cats, Daiquiri and Snicklefritz both lived to be 18 and were sorely missed when they died. And a wonderful parakeet named Flip!
When Gabe & I were first married we had a beautiful golden retriever named Brandy who was just as sweet as they come and so good with the kids. Later we got an English Setter named Jesse James who was a great guy, but super high maintenance.
Then in 2001 for my birthday Gabe got me a wee tiny Brittany Spaniel. We named her Maggie and she was the love of our lives. She was so smart and so so dear. I really think she could read my mind. When I would think “I probably should give Maggie a bath”, she would go and hide! She loved to play ball and wanted us to kick it to her. She was sooo fast you could hardly ever get it by her, and then she would roll it back to you to kick again. She would play forever and we would finally say, No more Maggie, we just can’t play anymore.
I took her to obedience training and she just hated it. Kristi said it was because she wasn’t really a dog, and didn’t figure she belonged there! We went to all ten sessions and got a certificate of completion but didn’t pass. She would walk like an angel when she wanted to, but not on command.
For the last almost 13 years our lives have pretty much revolved around Maggie. She was our joy, our constant companion and she loved us unconditionally as we did her.
She has been failing for the last several months and the middle of September she got pancreatitis and didn’t respond to the herculean efforts of her doctors. She died in my arms, Wednesday morning the 25th of September 2013.
This book is a celebration of her life since she is such a vital part of ours. It is an attempt to remember the little things, how she always slept with a pillow, and she opened all her own presents, knowing there would be something good under the paper, she hated tent camping, but once we got the campers she loved it.
I love you Maggie, and I will miss you so much.
Until we meet again my sweet girl.
