Yeah well... I didn't expect that when I came back this morning. Everything was going great yesterday for S when I left around 5:30 pm yesterday. Then, <Dad> told me that the night was VERY difficult. It would appear that the epidural was stopped because there was a problem with the tubes and they could not put it back in place. <francophone expression of exasperation>. Already S was in a lot of pain, it was not time for the epidural to let go. In short; very painful night.
My morning with her was mostly trying to distract her so that she didn't hurt as much as possible. Reading stories, songs, <Quebec tv show> and mom cuddled up to her in bed. The physiotherapist stopped by to make her do her exercises and the pain became almost continuous afterwards. Then, the surgeon decided to increase her morphine and her valium. Already, after her first dose of increased morphine, S gave me her first smile of the day.
And, unexpectedly, when the occupational therapist came to sit her in a chair, she seemed pretty fine. I took the opportunity to redo her braids that looked like "rastas" and that she’d had for 4 days. She was so peaceful that she almost fell asleep in her chair! Haha!
So S's stay in the hospital is really like a roller coaster... Hopefully it just gets better and better.
