Designer Challenge - layered template - flower

For this challenge, I am providing a layered flower template (PSD). Be creative, change it up, add color, texture, styles, etc., etc. Then return here to show off your creation. (By showing your creations, you are inspiring others). Once you have shown your unique creation, you are free to add your creation to your kits.

I created this flower using the template and a couple of overlays from PS.

I'll be back with mine soon

YAY!! I cannot wait to see what you create!

Another example for this flower template.. I added the button template 383 by Janet Scott to embellish this flower.

Thanks for this fun little challenge, Gina... it proved to be really good practice for me at creating a gazillion layers and trying to get a certain look. smiley

I decided to go crazy with splatter brushes, overlays, and masking:

Wow, these flowers look fantastic!! I don't know if mine will look as good. smiley

@Brenda. I totally love your flower! I like that you pushed the limits and turned the basic flower into art.

@Shanon. Just have fun with it. Keeping things simply works as well as being extravagant.

I used a watercolor overlay I made, and added one of the extracted jewelry brooches as a center. I rather like it. Thank you for the challenge.

I opted for a gradient map, some brushed-on recoloring, a fabric texture, and a little glitter for mine.

@Sunny - wow!! you made a simply flower very feminine and elegant. I love the brooch you chose.

@Holly - I am such a fan of fabric textures. It gives such a soft look to elements. The glitter is a wonderful add too.

Fantastic job ladies! Y'all really get my brain to thinking about other creative possibilities.

Thank you for the template, this is my flower, using different papers, blending modes and brushes

Love seeing all these different takes on the same flower. Reminds me how much you can change things up with the same template!

How does one do this challenge, if they do not have photoshop? All I use is Artisan, can I use this template in that?

From what I have seen Lisel a psd or tif cannot be used directly in Artisan. But if the designer creates a folder with the individual layers as PNG files it can. Found that information here : How to Use Designer Digitals Templates in Artisan Software.
Now I know why there are folders with the individual layers esp seen when I download layout template freebies.

Altho I'm not sure if all this is still relevant for newer versions.

@Lisel - I added individual PNG files to my drive box. The link is in the original post but also here.

@Gina - I myself had no idea what those extra PNG folders were for. Since Lisel asked I looked it up and learned something myself! I will be keeping this in mind for future projects. And thank you for going to the extra step to add the PNG files! This is an especially lovely community that way!! smiley smiley

@ Charlotte - I am really inspired by the way you mixed papers and splatters on the flower. My personal opinion is that splatters work for everything.

@Jessica - thank you for answering about Artisan. I spend so much time in adobe that I seldom think about other programs can or cant use.

In the future if I upload something that is not compatible with a particular program, just ask if I can add a different format. It may not always be possible but I will when I can.

Thank you Jessica and Gina for the info! I'm off to figure this out.

This is what I came up with.

@Lisel - the flower looks super in dark purple. I especially appreciate the purple splatters.

Thanks, Gina!

Here's my try at this challenge:

I enjoyed this, though it definitely wasn't as easy to make the flower look the way I wanted it to, as I had thought it would be!

Here's a couple more ideas I played around with...

This one I added a bunch of different elements:

And this one I just used the silhouette shape of the flower to add a felt style with stitching, and a pretty paper element for some extra pizzazz:

So many fun different things can be done with just a simple flower template !

@Jo - I love your flower. Text and bokeh always appeals to me.

@Brenda - I love that you took a different approach. It is definitely inspiring to see such variety.

For me, the best learning tool thus far has definitely been just simply taking a graphic and playing around and experimenting with different brushes, overlays, effects, etc resulting in completely different looks each time. Watching youtube videos and reading through forums such as DigitalScrapbook.com helps to give ideas that I then try to put into practice.

If I like the result of something, then I save it as a PSD template for future use.

Some of my favourite results have happened out of pure accidents and not having a clue what the heck I was doing, LOL.

Experimenting is fun !

I made 2 flowers with this beautiful template, love all of the different designs that are made!

Wow, Charlotte, I really love the aqua colored flower

@Charolette, I really like the aqua flower. Isn't it amazing at the different looks we've gotten from the same flower template? I am so impressed and inspired.
