Scraptorial 1 - Divide-and-Conquer Pattern Making

Oh, I hear ya about having a program you are so comfortable with you can almost do it without thinking. I am kinda that way about PS. I had to stop and really think about how I do some things when I am writing out instructions, because it is almost automatic. My fingers just know where to go. I am happy to hear you have PS available to you--I wasn't sure--and I know it is daunting to figure out at first. (I actually cried the first time I tried to make something in it, by just poking buttons and seeing what they do. Not the best way to learn PS. I swallowed my pride and looked up some tutorials after that experience.) You made me laugh with your description of things lurking around the corners in PS. YES, that still happens to me, too, but the rewards are great if you stick with it and make it behave for you. I've been playing around in it for almost 20 years now, and I would never call myself an expert. I know just enough to get done what I want to get done, and I regularly learn new things as I am bumbling around and poking buttons to see what they might do! smiley I full expect someone to be doing one of these Scraptorials and say to me "You know there is an easier way to do that, right?" And I will not be the least bit surprised, nor upset. There is always more than one way to accomplish a task in PS, and no way is "right" or "wrong." I am always happy to learn new stuff, and if it makes photoshopping faster or easier--WOO HOO! Bring it on, and I will thank whomever for enlightening me.

I am so happy to hear the pattern-making Scraptorial translates to your preferred software. I hoped these would translate to other software because not everyone uses PS. YAY!

Awwww . . . you are so sweet, and correct. I would never be disappointed or mad at someone doing a work-around to make the Scraptorials useful to them! Whatever works, I say! No one can look at a finished element or paper and say what software created it, so what does it matter?

Your scattered rose pattern is GORGEOUS, Chitra! So many variations and each one as pretty as the next. YOU DID IT! And what lovely results you managed. *applauds with wild abandon* So happy you were able to make the technique work, so tickled you are pleased with your patterns, and so happy you wanted to share your results with us. YAY, YAY and more YAY! Excellent job, my friend. smiley

Hi Anette-Marie,
now I had some time to deal with your 1st Scraptutorial. Unfortunately it doesn't work with my PI X3/ Corel Program, but I managed it with a little trickery. To describe it here makes no sense, since I am probably still the only one here, which works with this unfortunately no longer updatet program. But it still runs on WIN 10 and it is very familiar to me. This is my result:
My bridal bouquet (golden wedding) with a fine, square lace designed as a tube and a program filter,

OOooo, Doska, very pretty!

Thank you Lisel smiley
