  • Zip It contains the pages for the Scraptorial and the Gill Sans Bold Cheat Sheets I made. (With and without the border.) If you don't want to set up your own cheat sheets, please feel free to use them and modify them for your kit.

  • Gill Sans Ultra Bold is available here, if you don't already have it.

  • Henny Penny font is available here, if you fell in love with it when you saw it in the sample cheat sheet. DaFont is a great place to "shop" for free fonts for your alpha sheets/stash. Great organization, a bazillion free fonts, and straight forward downloading. About the terms of use from the web site:"These fonts are the authors' property, and are either shareware, demo versions or public domain. Please look at the readme-files in the archives or check the indicated author's website for more details, and contact him if in doubt."

  • If your Style File for decorating your cheat sheets is light (or you are a hoarder like me) here is a site chock full of amazing sets of styles. They are free and they are marked for commercial use.

Day 10's Challenge: Make an alpha sheet for your kit. Or two. Or TEN! smiley Use the "Alpha Sheet Cheat" technique or whatever method you personally prefer. One note of caution: if you use the cheat, be mindful of the size of your sheets. You might want to divide them for sharing so they aren't too awkward to work with, especially if you are uploading to the Commons. There is a limit there as to how big a PNG can be and I have always had to divide my alpha sheets into two or three sheets to meet it. I think it is 30mb.

I love cheating on Alphas! They are too hard otherwise.

Being a McCheater Cheater-pants who cheaty-cheat-cheats at alphas is the only way to go in my book! (I have that action that chops the alpha sheets into individual letters and characters, but then you have a bazillion little PNGs to deal with and I don't want that in my stash or to deal with uploading them to the Commons or putting them into kits, so the alpha sheets are the answer in my lazy world.) Glad you could cheat with me, Tricia. That Holly Font is really festive! And I like the glitter and polka dots you decorated it with. CUTE!

smiley I too prefer sheets. As a designer I had to provide both...so I have the action and the starting pages. The one nice thing about them is they are not to big to upload and the end result fits on the 12x12 screen. Thanks for your encouragement!!

When I am more awake in the morning I need to find a faster way to add lights...a brush or something.
Recommendations on increasing speed appreciated!!

I was able to speed up a bit, but for some reason PSE would not make it into a brush...maybe because of the colors? Finally done, but adding lights in different colors, with glows, that cross open alpha spots...never again!!

And Desert done. Absolutely a pain!!

The lights are from ps_marisa-lerin_26845_paper-251b

I know it was a pain, but the alphas are GORGEOUS! I love them.
I want them.
I'd actually USE them, and that's saying somethin', 'cuz usually I don't use alphas in my own scrapbooking.

Tricia, this is just.........wow.
Stunning----if an alpha can be that?!?!?
But really, SO festive and I think on a page this alpha would steal the show!
Seriously.

These are gorgeous

Thanks Lisel. I rarely use alpha either. It's faster to pick a font, add my words, and decorate them like an alpha, then to align bitty pieces....except that cactus! The cactus would be faster to use the alpha!

Thanks Gail 🤩

These are 2 of my alpha sheets so far.
I Used Annettes cheat sheet with Gills Sans Ultra Bold and put a galvanised metal over the one and a hammered metal on the other.
Used the Coffee Shop Fabric Maker for the background.
Is this correct?

Correct? Absolutely! Fabulous? YOU BET! Love both of these alphas, Gail. Absolutely perfect for your theme. They are both just gorgeous! (And that woven action with gray is beautiful, too. Are you going to include that as a paper for your kit? I love it. So versatile!)

Thank you for sticking with it, Tricia. It is really an absolutely gorgeous alpha. Soooooooooo stinkin' fun! I am sorry I couldn't suss out how to make adding lights like that to letters any easier. I thought on it until my poor little pea-brain was frazzled and hurting and never could come up with any kind of solution. Sometimes you just have to gut it out, when you have a vision of what you want to make, but PS doesn't have any magic buttons to make it happen. Your sticktoitiveness has created a wonderful asset, and you NEVER have to do that again! smiley I agree with Lisel, that any page making use of this alpha will be built around it 'cause it will be the star of the show! Super festive. Super fun and I am so glad you got 'er done! *applauds your monumental efforts*

I hardly ever use them either, but I like creating them. I just love fonts and letters and styles so much! And if I am being honest, none of the alpha sheets I have share in the Commons are very popular, so I think most people probably feel the same way you do, Tricia. Grab a font and type on the scrapbook page instead of fiddling with the sheets, but still, I persist in making them! smiley

Yes I have. I need to go and update my papers so that I can put the kit name on them.

Thanks soo much for hosting, Annette Marie smiley Love this show but oops obviously not enough to read the challenge request until I understand it, sorry for that! I will try and find a template that has all letters, I made this one over lunch again, yes lol, with one of my fave alpha sheets by Marisa: 139356 . The entire bundle is the bomb, I think there are 5 or so alpha sets in this bundle. So pretty straight forward: desaturated, then a layer of colors at 100% overlay blending mode, glitter layer from the artRage glitter gun and a glass style layer on top of it all by graphic dome at 85% screen blending mode. And while it didn't take any time to finish, it felt it took much longer to do the rest. smiley I did have fun, and I think I now know why I like this shape so much: it looks a bit like a fingernail shape.

@Tricia and @Gail: Such wonderful sets, love them all. smiley

Tricia: Love the holly font! Great choice. The cactus alpha is festive.

Gail: Loving the metal-look!

Bina: Super cute. Love the glitter!

I made 3 alphas last night before bed. Need to put them on a preview, though. Admittedly, I couldn't figure how to use the type tool in PS. It was coming out weird. So I ended up making the sheets in PSP. I used sahindesigns glitter style for the first alpha. The other two were fully made in PSP.

I don't know if this can be called as an alpha sheet...I downloaded them from Pixabay, & just added a stroke.

My lovely designing peeps,

I have edited the prompt to make my intentions for satisfying this prompt more clear. You are welcome to use whatever method you prefer to make an alpha for your kit. You do not have to use the method described in the "Alpha Sheet Cheat" Scraptorial. Sorry for the confusion. I knew what I meant. smiley

For future reference, you are always welcome to get stuff done in whatever manner makes sense to you. I share the Scraptorial techniques just in case they might be helpful, but you are not bound to using them exclusively. smiley

These are definitely alpha sets and will satisfy the prompt. I didn't make my intentions clear, but you are always free to use whatever method you prefer to get things done. These are really fancy and beautiful, Chitra. Good find and excellent modification!

These are super cute alphas, Christina. I especially like the one with the little flower decorations and polka dots. Sorry PS was being difficult, but using PSP is totally fine. (Especially when your results are so dang SWEET!) smiley

You probably already tried this, but when Photoshop starts doing funky things for me, sometimes it just needs to be shut down and restarted. Those "ones" and "zeros" get mixed up sometimes. That is what my husband, my in-house tech support, always tells me anyway. Just my two cents for what it might be worth to you.

Oh, I love your glittery alpha set, Bina and it definitely fulfills the prompt. I didn't make myself clear in the instructions. You are always welcome to use whatever method works for you to complete any of the prompts. I should have said that to start with, and I have edited for clarity and thanks for helping me realize I needed to.

I love the glitter, the stripes, the different colors on each letter and that shape is very fun. It reminds me of letter punches you use for physical scrapping. They are usually shapes, but there are some alpha sets out there, too.

Off to check out that bundle and see if I NEED it! smiley Thanks for the linky. Makes hoarding so much faster! LOL

YAY! smiley

I knew only positive words will come from you, Annette! I think by now you know my secret - that I always try & find a short cut & work-around that is easiest for me!

For me, what I read from the tutorials & what registers are two different things!!! What my brain has retained are "make paper, make tags, make borders, add dots/stripes/ziggy zags, a, b, c,...etc, etc...& I'm off to do them from my comfort zone.

I want to thank you again for being so accommodating to people like me who feel comfortable doing things their way. BTW, my most favourite tutorial was the wavy borders, because I love wavy borders & have some store bought templates (I had really forgotten I had them even) but they were lost in the 'basement' of my computer's EHDs till your tutorial & I started searching my folders!

I can't thank you enough for it because it was a reminder that I has all those templates & now am busy making wavy borders!!!

But I want to tell you that I think I liked your template more than the ones I had!!! as after making all of them, yours look prettier. Thank you!

Thank you! I normally don't use alphas, only once in a great while. But like you, I enjoy making them.

After reading your reply, I just tried it again and figured it out. What a bonehead mistake I made. I am literally LOL'ing at myself.

Watercolour Alpha made with Annette's Gill Sans cheat sheet

Thanks so much for this and all this month! So fun!

Colorful alpha, Sarah! Looks great!

Robyn, I like that effect on the alpha. It's pretty!

Thanks so much Christina!
