Scraptorial - Make-A-Kit Extravaganza (Day 9 - Making Waves Border)

  • Page One

  • Page Two

  • Zip The zip contains the pages of the Scraptorial, a PSD of a CU wavy border trio I made (you are welcome to make use of it for your kit if you like) and a finished PNG wavy border cluster in case you want a better look.

Day Nine's Challenge: Makes some waves (a wavy border, that is) or a different style of border, if waves aren't your thing. You know I will be happy to see any kind of border you create. smiley

3 borders I made, the snow scene does go across the page, but I didn't want it going across in the preview, so I put it behind the other two. smiley

Credits:
Brooke Gazarek's 27669 vines overlay.
Sharon Dewi-Stolp's 63202 wonderland deer.
Elif Sahin's 62382 paper templates no 8 snowflakes.
Janet Kemp's 69567 bow temp 046, 336842 postcard.

Well, warp is a PS only thing...so I couldn't use PSE. I made 3 in Inkscape instead:

Nativity shape from Nativity Christmas on Design Bundles by Mint & Bear Creations
Sheila Reid Gold Leaf Foil Styles

And in Desert Colors:

Very pretty, so peaceful. That holly and pine pattern I'm in love with, and the gold on the nativity adds the nicest touch.

Can't get my head around this one, but I will continue trying until I come up with some borders.

Thanks Tricia

I just realised I posted my wavy borders for the wrong day in the wrong thread....kicking myself smiley smiley . But it's too time consuming to re-post so...its posted in the 4th day thread. Sorry.

Absolutely no worries, Chitra! smiley Close enough, I say!

Lisel: OMGoodness I love that snow scene! The bow on the deer is pure cuteness.

Tricia: Your waves came out fantastic!

I read the tutorial, but PSP has warp, so I already knew how the handles worked. I just didn't know where it was located in PS. lol I used Annette Marie's provided template for one because it's a great template. smiley Changed the stars to flowers to fit my theme. Drop shadows beyond the borders are only on the preview.

Janet Kemp Paper Flower Template.

Just want to add that my previews say PU/CU because the items I create from scratch, without other designers templates or anything, have CU in the file name.

Thanks, Christina! And I really like that striped border with the flowers hanging over the side.

You're welcome, Lisel! Yeah, I wanted to try something a little different than the other two.

Tricia, I really love Sheila Reid’s 3 sets of border templates, too! I use them quite often.

I really love how we are all encouraging each other in this challenge. The lovely sense of community is something that I think is one of the most special things on this site, anyway, but making a kit together is an even more special thing to do, isn’t it?

Annette, thank you SO MUCH for all your hard work in putting this challenge together! I also REALLY hope that you will have lots more Scraptorials for us after this kit/bundle is finished.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I second what Robyn said. smiley

I agree 100% with Robyn. This is my first time at designing and have learnt so much. Thanks Annette.

I can't figure it out with PSE 20. I tried fiddling with the wave filter but it doesn't work or I just can't get it to work. I don't have the option of edit>transform>warp:

Can anyone help?

Kimberley, from what I can see doing a Google search, it looks like PSE 2022 was the first Elements version to have warp tool. Before that it looks like the only warp was for text. You are welcome to use the wavy borders I made and shared in the zip if you can't make your own. Tricia is an Elements user (not sure what version) but she ended up making her wavy border templates in Inkscape. Dangit. So sorry I dangled the warp tool in front of you and then you don't have it to play with. smiley

Guess what? I figured something out. Not quite as nice as the others, but I'm still playing. Here's a preview. I'm going back in to decorate when I get more ellies made.

Kimberley, those are AWESOME! I love them! Good for you figuring it out and I can't wait to see them gussied up with some decorations. So excited for you!

Lisel, your wintery border collection is so neat. Love the wee little bow on the deer. And the vine pattern is just oh-so-pretty. And I always love snowflakes in any color, shape or form so WOO HOO! Very fun, festive variety. Good job, my friend!

I did a perfunctory search to see if Elements had the warp tool before I decided to do this Scraptorial and saw some web articles alluding to it but didn't bother to notice it is just in the latest versions. Dangit! Sorry I forced you to dust off Inkscape to make your waves, BUT they sure turned out cool. Tricia, I absolutely love the shapes you made and kudos to you for figuring it out and getting it done even though you had to use totally different software. smiley

Gail, you are always free to skip a prompt if it just doesn't speak to you. My feelings won't be hurt! smiley I've made plenty of kits that didn't contain one single border and no one has ever complained to me about it. You've made so many cool things for your kit that no one is going to go "Man, if only there were some borders included." No pressure!

Christina, your Spring Bling borders came out so cool! I am so happy you used my template--I feel so validated! smiley And it just looks so fun in your fresh, Spring colors with FLOWERS. Love it, and the striped one with all those pretty flowers and greenery is gorgeous as well. And the waves you made are awesome. Love the butterfly and flower clusters you sprinkled on it for decoration. This kit is going to be absolutely GORGEOUS and I am so excited to see what else you create for it in that beautiful palette of colors. GOOD JOB, Christina!

Robyn, I could not agree with you more! I have gotten the warmest feelings seeing everyone in this group come together around making pretty things to share with others in the form of scrapbooking kits. I love designing, period, BUT doing it together with such lovely like-minded people who are so generous in their praise and encouragement increases the enjoyment a hundred-fold for me and I hope everyone who is participating feels the same way.

You are so welcome, and THANK YOU for making the time to participate. I am so enjoying getting to know you a bit better and learning from you and you've shared so many additional resources that have made this endeavor so much better for all of us. And I am just thrilled to see all the beautiful things you've put together for the collab. It encourages me to be a bit more disciplined in my approach to creating, and that is a very GOOD thing! Bless you for the kind words regarding your desire for more Scraptorials. That is such a nice thing to hear. I am really enjoying putting them together and I hope to continue for as long as people keep showing up for them! I am learning and it is just so much fun to meet new people and feel I am giving just a tiny bit back to this community that has given me so much.

Awwww, thanks for the warm words, Christina. I am really enjoying getting to know you a bit better and getting to see all your lovely creations and hear a bit about how you brought them to life. I do have plans to continue with the Scraptorials and I am so excited that people want me to! YAY!

Awwww Gail. I am so happy to hear you are enjoying yourself AND learning. That is all I ever hoped for when I started the Scraptorials, so it thrills me to hear it. You are so welcome, my friend, and I can't wait to see you posting your pretty creations in the Commons soon and would love nothing more than to see you join in for many, many more Scraptorials and kit-making adventures with me! It has been such a treat meeting you and getting to know you just a bit better. Here's to lots more learning and creating and chatting! smiley

Tricia, thanks so much for sharing those links. I just LOVE adding cool new things I have missed in the graphics section to my voluminous stash and you always point out the best stuff that I just HAVE to have! Scrapping Hoarders Unite! smiley Please don't ever stop enabling my compulsion, y'hear??? smiley

Scrapping Hoarders Unite! LOL
Always happy to share, and I'm so happy to collect more things which you share ❤️❤️❤️
This is a great group and I'm having a wonderful time.

I, also, love hanging out in here and especially reading all the comments. I enjoy how everyone encourages everyone else.
