Scraptorial - Make-A-Kit Extravaganza (Week 3 - Make-A-Kit BINGO)

I am posting this a bit early, so if you are all caught up on previous prompts, but have time this weekend to get your design on, you can get started on this.

For the next week, I would like you to play BINGO with me! There are 24 prompts and a free space (very important free space-LOL.) The challenge is to get a BINGO by picking a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row, make something new for each square's prompt and then share the results here in the comments. (Please don't use items you have already made for previous days prompts.Yes, I am greedy. I want MORE! Always more! smiley )

I would also ask that everyone make one master entry for all of their results. You can just hit the "edit button" to keep adding more results to the same original comment as you work through your chosen BINGO prompts. I think that will help keep your things together and organized for all of us so we can see your BINGO in all its glory. I don't mean you can't make more than one comment in this forum post; please chat as much as you want, but let's keep the results together in one post if you can manage. And hey, if you feel real ambitious, I double-dog dare you to get a BLACK-OUT! That is making at least one thing to satisfy each prompt and we will all be very impressed with you, if you can manage! smiley

So at least one item per prompt, but you are free to make more items from each prompt if you are inspired to do so! You can combine prompts, but it still only counts as one. It is your choice what square it fulfills.

I have used the words "made" and "used" interchangeably and they both mean you created or modified a designer resource for your kit to satisfy that square. It does not mean you have to make the entire thing from scratch. (As always, if you want to share your kit with others when you are all done, please make sure you are using commercial-use items.) For example: "Use diamonds or chevrons" means make a paper with a diamond design from scratch OR use something pre-made like a CU chevron brush as part of a multi-media page, or you could add either pattern to word art, or to decorate an element or as the background for a cluster. How you satisfy the prompt is up to you. If you use diamonds as part of a photo mask, then you can decide which of those two prompts it is meant to fulfill, since "made a photo mask" is a separate prompt.

Clear as mud? smiley If you have any questions about playing the game or how to do any of the prompts, please ask away. I shall do my best to explain and/or help you find resources.

Here is my BLACKOUT:

Thanks Annette. This sounds like great fun.
Here are the frames. Bingo card said 1.

I am doing my bingo very slowly. Here are 2 of the four journal cards. The striped one is from the striped paper. The leather one, I made the leather and the rivets. Used a tag from "labels-photoshop-shapes-Shapes4FREE-lg" and applied a hammer finish style from Mommyish.
Please feel free to criticise my tags as this is the first time I am doing this and I can only learn from your comments.
Number 3. Number 4 I am putting on hold and going to try my biggest hurdle. Flowers and leaves.

While waiting for Christina, I went and searched how to make cogs and gears and then found this spirograph tut that I thought would be applicable. The open centre one resembles a tyre if you use your imagination a bit. I applied various metal styles to all of them.

Here are some of the flowers I drew and then played around with,

My mask

My first attempt at photo corners

My buttons. No template used, made from scratch.

My bingo card. I will carry on and complete the whole card.

My brads. Not perfect, but I more or less have it figured out.
[/img]

Here is the word art. Found a new leather & metal stitch action.

My Cluster

Oh,, look at YOU! You already took care of that all-important free space! smiley I am so happy to hear it sounds like fun to you. I was ridiculously excited about it, the whole time I was putting the BINGO card together and I couldn't wait to post this challenge. (I am such an impatient child sometimes. Okay, MOST times!)

I am very anxious to see what you make, Gail! And of course, you are most welcome! smiley

Thanks bunches @Annette Marie for hosting so much fun!!! smiley smiley I love your beautiful entries and the header is soo great and sweet! smiley The sticker is the free entry. That was fun!
@Gail O'brien: Love your frames, Gail. smiley

And I liked Bina's Neon tree so much that I experimented on making one also:

Flowers and motorcycles don't exactly go hand-in-hand, do they? Gail, maybe you could find some flower shapes and use a galvanized steel or diamond plate style on them, or rust or chrome. Add some screws or studs or rivets for decoration on them. Thin-lined doodled flowers with a metal style on them would look they were made out of wire. My idea would be to try to keep 'em tough and masculine. I think metal flowers and leaves would be super fun, but it is just a suggestion and you are free to use it or not. No worries either way.

Gail: Nice frames! After reading Annette's reply to you about flowers and motorcycles, I have some things that might be of use to you and your kit. I made a bunch of gear preset shapes for PSP years ago (and I do mean years ago haha). I can easily make a set of plain black pngs for you to design yourself. I also have real screws, screw tips, and a couple of bolts. If you're interested, let me know and I'll bundle them up.

Annette: Adore that snowflake swirl! But I loving everything I've seen you create so far.

Bina: Your creations are so soft and pretty.

Tricia: Love the corners!

Okay, deep breath... I'm going to go for a full black-out! smiley There are two things I might have some issues with: mask and text on a path. I've never actually made a mask, so I'll have to search for a tutorial on that. And, I used to do text on a path in PSP like 10-18 years, but I can't remember how to do it. lol I'll figure it out, though. This is going to be a lot of work, but I'm committing myself to doing all of the prompts.

Everyone's stuff is looking great. I'm pretty far behind but I'm having a lot of fun making my own patterns. LOL

Hi Christina. Thanks that would be great. After thinking about Annettes comment I thought must now go and google for gears and that. Once again thanks for all the help and advice. Great people here to boost your confidence along the way.

Fun is the center spot for Bingo...so you've got it!!

I am so happy you like my swirly with the blingy snowflakes, Christina! Thank you!

And yessssssssssssssssssss, so happy you are going for a black-out! As for photo masks . . . I wasn't sure how to make them either but I looked at a bunch of them and they appear just to be some sort of shape in the center with interesting stamped shapes around the edges and everything needs to be black and/shades of dark gray. If it is more complicated than that, then perhaps I did mine wrong. smiley I did find these today that might be helpful as a place to start.

And I have never actually done text on a pather either, but Marisa has a tutorial that makes it sound easy in Photoshop.

And my little heart is all aglow after seeing your most kind offer to help Gail with her "motorcycle flowers." That is just so nice and it is things like that, that make me so happy to be a part of this group. It just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside to see everyone encouraging and helping each other. smiley

Tricia is right! You've taken care of your center square on the BINGO card, so only four more things to do for a BINGO, Kimberly. (So happy to hear you are having fun with patterns and there is plenty of time this week to catch-up on older prompts and do a few BINGO entries. And if not, then there is no end date for this. So no worries. Enjoy the process and your kit will get done when it gets done. NO PRESSURE!)

You can do this, Gail. You have been knocking it out of the park on all your prompts so far, and I have every confidence you can put together some super clever flowers for your kit, too. Let me know if you need help finding anything in particular, although it sounds like Christina is going to hook you up with some awesome resources. Pretty sure your flowers are gonna be FANTASTIC! smiley

Tricia, you are going to have TWO black-outs before we know it! Good job, you industrious little bee, YOU! I am so happy to hear (and see) that you are indeed having FUN! That is what this is all about in my book! (Hey, I am wondering what the name of the font is that you used for the first stacked "FUN" wordart? I need it for my stash! And I know you understand that completely! LOL)

I love all the touches of Christmas lights that you have added to your elements here and there. I just love Christmas lights anyway, and it really serves to make the whole kit so cohesive. (A concept I struggle with since I have too many ideas and no discipline about just using a few of them judiciously. So good job on that!)

Using a spreadsheet to make all those nifty word strips is a neat trick. smiley You made them look fancy with the clipped paper textures and polka-dot backgrounds. I always think of word strips as being kinda plain little pieces of paper with words in a neutral color so I really like that you upped the interest by doing both of those things to yours.

Those cactus buttons! So cute. I love that the Christmas lights look stamped into the surface. And those shiny embossed spines. Really neat details that make your buttons look so very real!

I love the stitching detail on your SW border! Is that a style or an action? Where did you get it? Cause I NEED IT right now! LOL It looks perfectly real and is such a great way to tick that BINGO square off.

Everything you have shared so far are such neat additions to your already great kits and I am nothing-but-anxious to see what you come up with next! Really wonderful job on everything, Tricia. You are so very good at this designing stuff!

YAY--you found time to play BINGO with us, Bina! (Almost called you "Bingo." LOL Sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own when I am touch-typing.) You are so sweet and so very welcome for the BINGO challenge. I had a bunch of fun putting the BINGO card together and trying to make it look nice, so thank you so much for mentioning that you like it! smiley And I appreciate the kind words regarding my entries, too. I especially value your opinion since you make such beautiful things yourself, so thank you for the encouragement.

That little slide-style frame is so neat. I really like the texture you used on it. And that alpha! So cute. Makes me think of candy, and that is always a welcome thought! Watercolor + wings = beautiful and dreamy and is such a cool idea for an element. Your BINGO entries are so pretty together and I am just so happy you had time to play and shared your awesome creations with us. Absolutely wonderful, Bina. smiley

Love the bike chain frames, Gail. Those are such fun additions to your kit-theme and your journal cards look very nice. The leather and rivets are awesome and I like the little faint rider stamped on the other one. Good idea using your striped paper to make one. Anything you re-use like that, saves a bit of time and serves to make your finished kit feel more "put together" if that makes sense. I always like facing scrapbook pages that have some items that match . . . like the striped paper for a background on one page and the striped journal card used as decoration on the facing page. It is nice to give your scrappers those sort of options so they can coordinate their pages like that, if they like that look. Good thinking and I just want to say there is nothing wrong with taking your time. I always try to remind myself to enjoy the process, not just the results.

I am anxious to see the rest of your BINGO, but take your time! smiley

Hi Annette. Just to let you know, I am going to apply for the commons today. Thanks for all your support and encouragement.

@Gail, Whoohoo! So glad you are joining us in commons smiley

Thanks

I tried to slow down...really I did!! LOL, but...Bingo! smiley
Anyway, the font: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/fff-tusj
I like the bolder fonts for scrapping and tend to collect those.

You can say you have no discipline, and I can say I am 'lazy' ...once I pull something in my design folder for a kit I use it over & over. Using more variety means keeping track of more resources to attribute. smiley Sometimes I wonder if I repeat too much. It is better when I am contributing to a blog train or collab. Otherwise if I was still designing for sale, I'd be required to have more variety!

Yes, the words for the strips I made in excel and sorted into "lengths" then printed pdf and pulled into PSE. Bina had recommended making an action to make/cut word strips. PSE can use, but not make, actions...so excel.

Buttons are fun to make!

Stitching...an action by Atomic Cupcake (who closed shop in 2011???) BooHooHoo...they made my FAVORITE actions which were for most part super realistic and always worked in PSE. She also had weekly freebies, which was wonderful for a start-up designer and got me hooked enough to buy a bunch.

Anyway, thanks as always for your encouraging words and upbeat attitude. You are very much appreciated and I am having FUN!

I will probably try for a blackout in Desert...but maybe not for HoHoHoly Night...there will be lots of options there already.

You're very welcome, Gail! I'll get it all together today and post it in my freebie thread in case others want them.

Kimberly, always go at your own pace! And you said it: You're having fun, and that's all that matters.

You're welcome, Annette! I'm excited to do the black-out! I need elements anyway, so this will push me to make some. haha I'll do a search for masks in the graphics section and look at them more closely. Always up for learning new things and creating stuff I've never done before.

Thanks for the link to Marisa's tutorial. I'll definitely read it. smiley

For me, DigitalScrapbook is an well-established community, and I mean that in the sincerest of ways. I believe many people want to learn to design their own goodies, but they don't know where to start or have the humongous stash some of us have built over the years. It's important to encourage others to explore their creativity, to take it one step further. If I can help someone, I will!

My eyes are bugging and my head feels about to implode!!! smiley smiley ...& I mean that in fun, not any other way!!! Hope no one misunderstands me!!! smiley

I was expecting to see Tricia's post right after/below Annette's but Gail took the cake this time! smiley

Tricia, your buttons are soo NEAT!...as are all else! smiley

Annette, yes true, all you've made so far are just lovely eye-candy! smiley

Gail your frames are so great for boys!...& bike-interested girls! smiley

Bina, pretty great alpha. smiley

Gail, maybe you could make tattoo-style flowers and leaves?

Here is the first entry on my bingo card - photo corners. I'm doing the top row (officially) but, let's face it, I will probably end up doing most of the squares on the card!

I'll give you the details on what I used when I make the kit preview, but I made 2 different sets, each in the 10 palette colours. One using my leather solids, and one using my floral grunge solids.

This next preview isn't an entry for my bingo card; you could call it a "Bingo Extra"! A watercolour paper kit made in Jixipix Watercolor Studio Pro. (I absolutely LOVE Jixipix programs, and have quite a few of them.)

PK18 Textured Gradients 03 Watercolour

2 more paper kits to go (Photo Papers & Watercolour Photo Papers) then alpha/s and elements. But I already know what I'm doing for my elements, so that's pretty straightforward.

Another "Bingo Extra" entry - Christmas Lights Alpha. The font is Carrick Groovy, and I used PSE 15's Glass Buttons Style on it.

Here it is Without Lights:

And here it is With Lights:

The black backgounds are just so you can see the letters and lights easier!

A big thank you to all you ladies for your help, advice and encouragement. As I am a beginner at this, you have kept pushing me to do more. I really appreciate it and I think this a super duper site. You are all fantastic.

Gail, you're doing a fantastic job so far! It's difficult in the beginning, especially simply learning how to use a program. Takes lots of practice, exploring all the nooks and crannies, and playing around with settings. Just keep at it and you'll keep advancing!
