Element or Embellishment

Hi, this may seem like the most simple/*insert another word here* question ever - but what is the difference between an element and an embellishment? I tried to figure it out while doing searching, but couldn't. There are so many great things on this site that it would be easier to narrow down what I am looking for if I knew! smiley

I think it is basically the same thing. We call "Element" anything that is not a paper. "Embellishment" is what that "element" is used for: to embellish your layout.

Hmm okay - it's easier to think about when you phrase it like that. Thank you!

I 2nd Carole's explanation (or should I say "confirm"?).

I wondered the same myself and just assumed that they were both the same with one being more "trendy" than the other .. but now I know smiley

I have wondered to know this answer as well but never asked because I thought it's only me who doesn't know it!! smiley smiley

I think "element" gets used a bit more in digital scrapbooking, and "embellishment" in traditional scrapbooking . . . I'm not quite sure why though . . .

They're both the same to me. smiley

For my digital scrapbooking kits, I use the word embellishments. It doesn't matter though either way if fine and means the same thing in my book.

I second Teddy, I've always thought of it as element for digi and embellishment for traditional, but use them interchangeably all the time.

They are the same thing to me.

I agree with everyone else... I think they mean the same...
I do find it interesting though I've been doing both so long now... I, too, interchange them; because when I was recently selling some extra unused stickers, alphas, etc through a local FB group. I called them embellies. HaHa I had several paper scrappers ask me "what?" smiley

I wondered about that too but came to the conclusion that they were both the same....just depends on who's talking. smiley

Are the terms for element and embellishment used interchangeably for the graphics shop here on pixelscrappers? When I am trying to narrow a keyword search I am never sure which to select.

This is funny, because i've been thinking the same. BUT.... here in Denmark it's not quite the same when we translate the two words. You make an element and you use embellishments.

Does that make any sense LOL
