in terms of terms of use of fonts (I know the ones you download have their own terms of use) but is it okay to use any font for making an alpha or how do you know which fonts are okay to use and which aren't? thanks

You generally need to check the fonts terms of use and make sure it's fine for commercial use. Anything else people look for in font TOUs?

I tend to buy bundles that are commercial use friendly (you need to double check their tou even if they say commercial use as there can be limitations). Otherwise I stick to (narrowing it down so I only see the commercial use options) and (great website).

Thanks Janet smiley

No problem!

I enjoy getting commercial use fonts from Creative Fabrica. There are other sites that have free CU fonts but it's hit and miss and I don't have time to hunt for them.

If the font designer's TOU isn't specific to what I do (offer anything I make for free), I will email the designer and detail exactly what I would use the font for, and ask permission directly from them. Also whether they will allow me to give away as CU or PU. A while ago, I did a purge of all my fonts and now I only have CU fonts in my collection. I still need to sort my fonts into categories (eg. Western, Hand Written, Calligraphy, etc), but at least I know that I can use anything I own!
