On Photobucket, there is a download button above the photo. It's a gray image that's a down arrow going into a rectangular shape; it's two buttons to the left of "Prev" and "Next."

You're Welcome, Danielle and Robyn!

By the way, I'll be posting some more stuff later on today.

thanks so much!

You're welcome, Jen!

Just so everyone knows, I went ahead and purchased WinZip earlier, so my files won't be problematic anymore. smiley

While I was making the included sample for my Recipe Challenge layout, I decided to turn it into a template and share it.

In PSP, I have the option to save files as .psd. However, I've never done it before (never had a reason), so I'm clueless whether it will actually open properly in PS. If someone can download it, even if you don't want it, then let me know if the .psd file opens okay in PS, it would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed the file for older versions of PSP. New link:

Love the compass, water elements & border....Thanks!

You're welcome, Kathryn!

This was made with a picture my sister took during one of their yearly vacations to Cape Cod.

That's cool & would be a great alpha, Vidia! I liked the earlier version, too - the flattened down "picture."
Any chance of offering that compass with no picture under the glass? (so someone could put a picture in there? I love nautical stuff (having lived in Maine for 10 yrs).

Curse you, Lizanne! (Where's my voodoo doll?!) lol Now you put it into my head to make an alpha. Um, I honestly don't remember if I saved the compass as a PSPimage. I can't check the file right now; I've been stuck at my sister's since yesterday because of the massive amount of black ice everywhere. She lives near Groton/New London where the 22-car pile up occurred yesterday, whereas I live up by Hartford. It's an hour drive, and I have my dogs with me (Luckily, she feeds her dog grain-free, too, otherwise my huskies would be eating human food.). I'll check as soon as I get home, though. If it is an open-ended file, I'll post it for you. smiley

Oh, I LOVE the word art! I've been working on a book of our anniversary trip to St. Croix and this is perfect! Thanks! I've been looking for a beach type alpha. Could you maybe make it into an alpha?

I love your work. I can't wait to use your sandbar alphas.

The sandbar alphas are eagerly awaited here, too, Vidia!

I realise I'm a bit late with this suggestion, seeing as you have now purchased WinZip, but another option would be 7-Zip (and it's a free download.)

@Vidia: Sorry... (blushing) Hope my ideas didn't make too much work for you. I just think the letters you made in your word art are FABULOUS. And if you made an alpha out of it I think it would be awesome & highly used, from the feedback I saw after my post. smiley I just realized you're also from New England - no wonder we seem to get each other's humor... smiley I've lived in New England my whole life...

Wow! I was not expecting such an interest in the alpha. I'm totally shocked ... in a good way! smiley Well, then, I guess it's settled. I'll make the alpha, both with and without the little extra sea life on the letters. I'll have it posted within a few days. Thanks so much for the interest! I really appreciate it. smiley

Robyn: Ah well, such is life. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. smiley WinZip wasn't expensive, only $30.

Lizanne: It's quite alright. Even though I don't use alphas often, I was going to make it for myself anyway once you put the idea in my head. Born and raised in Connecticut. I've been to Maine a lot when I was younger. Love it up there, especially the coastline; it's picturesque.

Lizanne, you're in luck! Here's the "blank" compass. It's not exactly the same, but close enough. It's still the same texture background, but I played with the brightness/contrast and vibrancy a bit on the original. That is on a separate layer from the outer compass and glass part, which are on one layer, so you can easily adjust brightness/contrast to get either a black or white background in order to use the Color Replacer/Color Changer to use your own background.

Your sandbar turned out amazing....I have a few more extracted sea life besides the starfish if you end up with a need for them....

Thanks, Jennifer! If I run out things to use, I'll definitely email you. smiley

I love both compasses and that word art is gorgeous! Love your "embossing" and "gloss"! I'm working on mastering both those techniques. smiley
The alpha will be beautiful!!

Thank you, Vidia! smiley

France: Thank you! I used a very wide and round bevel, then a basic glass setting in Alien Skin's Eye Candy. I could never do that in PSP without Eye Candy, because the beveling width is limited to 31 pixels and the glass effect is horrendous. Alien Skin is my best friend. lol

You're welcome, Lizanne! smiley

Everyone: I'll have the alpha posted on either Friday night or Saturday late morning. I've been working on my kit for the Feb blog train. smiley

Wow, you made that in Paint Shop Vidia? I bow to you! I used it for a while but never quite got the hang of it (didn't understand layers - I do now but never thought of using it again).

Thanks for the tips, you did a fab job (I know, I'm repeating myself but it's worth it!)

Thank you!

France: See, that's my problem with PhotoShop. While PaintShop Pro, to me, is very user-friendly, PhotoShop is way too confusing. I had tried to play with it on my son's laptop a few years ago. Because I couldn't figure out how to add a second layer (something extremely basic), I got so frustrated that I just stood up and walked away. I haven't tried PS since. lol Eye Candy is worth the investment. I love it. I just wish Alien Skin hadn't discontinued Xenofex. smiley That was another great plug-in.

You're welcome, Beverly.

I had a look at Eye Candy, it looks really cool! I can relate to your frustration (for other programs/computer stuff) so much!!

Love the compass! Cool!

France, it is really cool! smiley You can do much so with it, especially when designing digitally.

Thanks, Linda!

Hi Vidia smiley I don't need another program just yet smiley but yes, I can see that! I'm still trying to get the most out of photoshop! Every time I look into it there's something new I learn! Then my brain starts spinning! *giggle* I've bookmarked it though!

Mahalo plenty Vidia!

I tried to download the Border Template (I really liked them) but it won't let me open it in Paint Shop Pro. Mine told me it wasn't a valid file. I have Paint Shop Pro x3 if that makes a difference. Maybe mine is old???? I don't have Photoshop so I can't use that version. smiley

I'm opening PSP right now. It isn't that X3 is old; it's probably because I didn't save the file for older versions. Whoops! lol I'm fixing it now and will reupload. Sorry!

Edit: I posted a new link in the border comment with the fixed file.

Thank you! You're so fast! It opened for me this time.....now....what to use it on.... smiley

Thank you for sharing Vidia. Love your work
