This is probably especially useful for designers. I stumbled across this video which shows some of the features/"tricks" in Affinity Photo for adding interest to simple videos. He's not rambly, so it's a pretty efficient video, and shows 6 different things you might not know you can do -- or might not know how to do in AP.

One thing I would add: there is a way to subtract one shape from another. (I don't know if he's unaware of it or if it's a newer feature than when the video was created.) It only works with vector objects, so if you're working with shapes, you have to first select the layer and then go to Layer > Convert to Curves.
But if both of your layers are curves, you can go to Layer > Geometry, and there are several options, including Subtract. His trick is pretty nifty, though. I didn't know you could do that, and it apparently works with non-vector layers, which is a plus.

I personally find this particular video annoying to listen to, but the information is clear and straightforward. This does not work in earlier versions of AP, because the Patterns tool is new in, I think, 1.9. (And if, like me, you update to 1.9 and it suddenly starts crashing on you all the time, you probably need to disable the setting in Edit > Preferences > Performance that says "Enable OpenCL compute acceleration.")

I lucked upon and signed up for a class at Pixel to Pages (Kelley Sills) on using Affinity Photo for iPad. The class starts very basic, but six sessions in I have picked up a number of good tips to streamline my workflow. If you are new to scrapping with AP, it is worth every penny!
