Oh, this version of PSP works fine with the surface pro, I'm not feeling the need to give it up, but thank you. After spending so much for the hardware, i don't nee3d to be cheap on the software, not when I can get the 2022 for $39.

Good to know. I was bringing that point because there is one kind of processor on a tablet that is not used often but is not compatible with PSP. I had one member experiencing that, and her recourse was simply to exchange the tablet with another one using the different processor (cheaper too!) and now compatible with PSP. smiley

Wow thanks for all the recommendations

Coming back to add to this list...discovered this past weekend you can completely scrapbook in Canva (app) as well. It's not as flexible as some products but is totally doable! smiley

Adding to this post even though I am way behind considering when this thread first began.
I have recently started using Affinity designer and Affinity Photo.
The best way I could describe Designer is if Photoshop and Illustrator had a baby it might look like this.
It has a steepish learning curve although if you are familiar with programs like Photoshop and Illustrator the skills are transferable.
I like it because it is natively vector based but also has pixel based capabilities and you can switch between the the two within the same document with no exporting required.
The main down side I have found with Affinity is the sparsity of good YouTube tutorials. I have managed to find plenty but it takes hours of scouring through to find something new or something specific.
Like all other programs Affinity isn't the be all and end all so I also use a very old version of Photoshop, Canva, Krita and Clip Studio Paint as they each offer something different that makes designing easier.

If you’re creating your own graphics, then you need Photoshop, Adobe, Affinity Designer, etc. Those are graphic creating and editing programs. IF you’re just taking your graphics with your photos and designing them on a page, then you can use Keynote, (Which is an untapped resource for many things), Even Goodnotes, etc. I started with Word and then moved to IOS products. I also have Procreate which is a digital drawing app, but can be used for digital scrapbooking.

Thanks for your info. I am new at this so it helps to see what is recommended. I have tried Photoshop years ago and didn't have a lot of patience learning it. What would you all recommend for a beginner?

You can try PaintShop Pro. It is simpler to use, and does not have a subscription cost. I have classes and activities for beginners and advanced.
Check this out.

I am looking for a program icon use on my android tablet and still use my downloads. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I asked for an iPad but was told. No.

@Kathy: Are you looking for a program to make scrapbook layouts in, etc, for Android tablet? If so I would check out Canva. It's online, so it won't matter what device you are using.

yes. Does canva allow you to use your items from here?

Yes, you should be able to upload whatever you want to Canva. You’ll have to download from here and then upload it to Canva.

As of 2024 there is no longer any access to Photoshop CS2.

I just started using Corel PaintShop Pro 2023 Ultimate, so I am still exploring some of the new features. I have worked with PSP9 for several years and liked it a lot. I prefer PSP to PS mainly because it is a not too expensive, and I find that you can make almost anything, if you just take some time learning how to use the program. I mostly use the program to make new scrapbooking elements, so I am not really familiar with the photo editing part yet.

Hello Digital Scrapbook Pros,
I am a newbie to this genre and have been using PowerPoint to design my scrapbook pages and have been very successful with what I can do in that program however, I can't use templates the way they are designed to be used (ie putting papers etc into the design). I am very innovative and up until now I've recreated template designs by using them as examples to recreate the pages, but I am now ready to make the leap to a more advanced digital scrapbooking program so I can use the wonderful templates properly. I know a lot of you have mentioned Photoshop Elements. I had purchased this several years ago (pre-scrapbooking days) and found it extremely difficult to understand and use and eventually the program use expired. Cintia, your suggestion sounds great but the site you linked to has shut down. Should I try Photoshop again instead? thanks ladies!

I've never used Photoshop Elements. It is called a "3 year term license" - which in my book is NO different than a subscription since the editor is then disabled after the 3 yrs. The organizer (like an Explorer I am guessing) is still infinitely available but I would imagine not having an editor would make it difficult to use for making and creating ?? I personally think Adobe is just trying to find a way of re-marketing the subscription concept.

I've used Adobe Photoshop for decades. I really don't like the subscription aspect tho. For homeschoolers who are members of the HSLDA, you can get a pretty steep discount on the Adobe subscriptions. Tho eventually I plan to move myself over to something else beside Adobe products.

There is Affinity Photo if you are looking for a completely non-subscription option. The aspect of 'buy it and it's yours' is very appealing. The learning curve coming from Photoshop is a little difficult - at least for me because I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to changing my workflow.

Then there is Photopea which is free. It's a little different in that it is a browser based editor that is nearly identical to Adobe Photoshop. It can also load styles & swatches for Adobe Photoshop. Not many non-Adobe programs - including Affinity - offer that ability. It can at least do some of the "Photoshop" things that cannot be done with other programs. Kind of a "fill in the gap" kind of tool. Or use on the go since there is no installing it you can design and create anywhere. And it can serve as a bridge for those interested in Photoshop but not yet ready to take the leap. It's not hugely advanced....more like a pre-AI world Photoshop.

There are always the free Krita & Gimp programs too. My daughter uses the Krita one sometimes.

Hope that helps and that you find something that flows well for you! smiley

You could go for the Adobe Photographer`s sub, it includes LightRoom and Photoshop and some others, it is not as dear as the CC sub. I have been using PSE since version 9 and never went higher up with it than 12, since I also use PS... You can buy an old PSE version on gumtree or ebay and then beef it up with a plug in called elements+ which is 10 or 15 bucks. This plugin will power up PSE to nearly full feature PS. No sub fees to pay that way .
