The shadowing of a Button

Hello, I want to add buttons in one of my kits. Right now I am working on buttons. For the button I want to put one of the papers that I have on top of the button and then clip it to the button. All fine and good, until, I want the shadows and the contours of the button to show up on the paper. I tried the burn tool and it looks awful. I tried changing the opacity but it looks dull. I hope that I am explaining myself right. Would someone be able to shed some light on this? Here is an example of what I want... https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/marisa-lerin/designs/malaysia-plastic-button-light-purple-asset-embellishment-two-holes-polka-dot

Kindly please inform, thank you. smiley

have you tried blending modes? multiply might be good..

Hi Patricia! Thank you so much for wanting to help me out, very kind of you. No, I haven't tried blending modes. I'll get back to you when I try it out. Thank you again!

I tried applying the multiply and it looks pretty darn good. Such a simple solution, thank you so, so, SO MUCH for your help, Patricia.

Wishing you happy holidays with many, many more!

You are welcome! Always try blending modes is my moto!

Happy New Year!

I create drop shadows of the element, create a new layer of the shadow (right click and choose "create new layer") ... this allows you to use blend modes, change the shape of the shadow a bit if need be ... try multiply, overlay, soft light as well as opacity and fill

Or

create a new layer under your element and take a soft brush at about 60% and paint in your shadow and then change the blend mode and opacity to suit .... this allows you to use either the colour of the element or the base layer for your shadow which can create a more authentic shadow depending on your layout

Oh wow, I love this!! Thank you so much, Susan! I will try this today. It is nice to know many different ways to do something. smiley Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to help me.

Happy New Year!
