Crime Dramas...

I am almost done with Homeland (I fast forward through a lot) and am ISO the next couple shows to watch while my kids are on an extended break. I will most defiantly go through the lists people have been suggesting!

oooo thanks @Robin! I love Vera... hubs is always trying to find me new ones. Thanks for your list... Now I've got more to add to watch later list. I'm only on Season 4 or Vera. I miss Joe! Not really much of an explanation of why he was gone (just got a promotion and new house). Guess they didn't know he was leaving the show or the Bits don't do as much prep work for when someone's leaving. I barely remembered that the last episode of the previous season He and his wife were looking for a new house. I really liked the dynamic they were creating with Vera relating to him and his family. Looking forward to see where it goes with the new guy. (sorry so long, not to many peeps in my RL to talk about it with, obviously) LoL smiley

I am absolutely a crime show/documentary addict also! To think it all started with Law and Order... I watch pretty much anything I can get my hands on in this genre.

@Shawna- What has been you favorite documentary? I have watched so many, The Staircase was great.... so was Evil Genius. I just watched the one on Netflix about Gabriel, the little boy who was abused and passed away all while Social Services was "involved". It was very sad and emotionally draining; however, it was put together very well and really invokes thought. Paradise Lost is a three-part saga about 3 young men who are convicted of murdering 3 other boys. If you haven't watched it, definitely check it out.

I watch Dateline, Dateline Secrets Uncovered and 2020 every Monday (catch up from over the weekend).

Great random topic!!

Melanie,

I like the scenery. Vera is filmed in beautiful North East England along the coast. Doc Martain is also on the seacoast in a super quaint village. I love all the different accents especially Irish.

@Shannon: I haven't watched too many documentaries except a few based of religious cults or sects like Jonesboro or Koresh, etc.
I've watched a few about serial killers and I have seen Gabriel (very moving). I, too, watch a lot of the Dateline Ones. Especially remember watching one about a few of my friends hometowns who I knew the people that were involved. Like a young mom who was pregnant and killed in a car accident or one about a couple elderly ladies but mostly out of curiosity for the whole story after the trial dates.

I'll definitely check out the ones you've mentioned. TFS your suggestions!

As a Brit can I recommend the following shows to you all to try...

The tunnel
The Fall
Line of Duty
Save Me
Luther
Broadchurch
Unforgotten

and my all time favourite U.S show The Wire

If you want some light relief from the crime stuff to watch can I also recommend trying The A word and Last tango in Halifax smiley

Deb x

I'm working my way through Midsomer Murders again right now, and Murder, She Wrote.

Quite frankly, I'm suprised that there's anyone left to murder in either Midsomer or Cabot Cove! These small country towns are dangerous, man.

And I have to recommend Psych if you're into a bit of laughter with your crime.

I did love Psych when I was watching it smiley

@Deborah: TYVM... I'll add to my list. I still have about 4 seasons left of Midsomer now. Hubs did get Unforgotten on standby for me next. I'll give him your list. smiley

@Trish: hahahaha I've had the same thought several times. Hubs doesn't really watch it with me but if he happens through or comes home while I'm finishing one, we have a running joke if they are on Murder #1, #2, or #3 to kind of let him know how far along in the episode I am. LoL smiley
Also, I did enjoy Psych when it came out originally. Loved several of the actors who I've since seen in small parts in other shows. Canada does have some good show, too. smiley

Since I finished all Rosemary and Thyme (miss them!) I found The Brokenwood Mysteries--2-hour murder mysteries on Acorn. I subscribed through Amazon. After a few episodes I like them as much as Midsomer Murders.

Thanks for the recs Robin!

@Robin, thanks! I'll have to check those out. I love British crime dramas!

I forgot to mention Line of Duty. One my favorites!

I love shows like that too. Think it started with forensic files way back in the day lol...
