Kid's Shows You Enjoy Watching

Magnus enjoys watching a little TV now and then, and I'm wondering if anyone has cartoons they enjoy watching with their kids. My favorite so far is Puffin Rock, which is on Netfix. It's very cute.

My kids are all grown now but when they were little I'd watch and love the land before time with the dinosaurs smiley

When my son was little we watched series like "Fireman Sam", "Koala Brothers" and of course "The Sesame Street" together. He absolutely loved the movie Cars, he got almost everything ... lunchbox, pyjamas, lego and of course a lot of the cars.

My daughter was a huge fan of Minnie Mouse and so we watched Disney's Playhouse and "The Save-ums!" (because we both love water and sea creatures). When she was a little older she watched series and movies with princesses, Barbie and fairies but also "Phineas and Ferb".

We also watched the old Disney movies like "The lady and the tramp", "101 Dalmatians", "Snowhite", "The Aristocats", "Robin Hood" (with the fox) and so on together because that are the movies I grew up with and love.

After watching TV we spoke together what happened ... who was in trouble, would they act the same way, what they don't like, things like this.

Nowadays both of them don't watch TV anymore, they watch Amazon Prime, Netflix and YouTube. My son watches almost everything in english (no subtitles in german) and my daughter just started watching movies in english too ... last week we watched "Peppa Pig plays in muddy puddles" together and had a lot of fun.

Most of the shows my preschool-and-under aged boys like drive me absolutely batty, like basically everything they watch on Nick Jr. But there are a few I don't mind watching with them-- The Lion Guard (a Disney sequel to The Lion King), Wild Kratts, and my husband and I got them into the reboot of DuckTales because we both grew up loving the original.

We also have a fairly steady diet of Pixar movies-- they're particularly fond of The Incredibles-- and there's a particular set of dinosaur-themed shows on Amazon Prime called Dino Dan/Dino Dana that my older son especially loves. Not a cartoon, but it is loaded with computer animated dinosaurs. I don't mind that one as much as, say, Paw Patrol, except they've watched every single episode at least 20 times by now!

So fun hearing everyone's favorites (and not favorites smiley )

My daughter (she is 7) just found a YouTube channel called Moriah Elizabeth (Me) and we love to watch it together. She makes crafts and repairs and repaints squishies. I think I like her personality the most.

my kids are all growing into tweens but i still love the bubble guppies

I love that show!

Since I don't have children, I have no idea what is on TV now, but my husband and I go to the movies every few months for date night and it is usually a cartoon or children's movie! We just saw Lion King and Toy Story 4.

My grandson is 4 and watches the "modern" cartoons at his home. When he is at my house I turned him on to "classic" Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, and he really enjoys watching Lassie. He loves anything with Dinosaurs, can name each and every one of them. He loves Toy Story and always comes to me to watch the NatGeo shows about animals. When my son was little he LOVED Barney and we'd always sing the song "I love you, you love me...." Not sure they even show Barney anymore. My oldest daughter always loved the Disney channel shows like Dumbo's Circus, Eureeka's Castle, but that was in the 80's and not sure they even show any of those cute shows anymore. My youngest daughter always loved Sponge Bob. I still think Sesame Street was one of the best shows.

I like watching cartoons from the 80's and 90's... I'm such a dork for liking Captain N and Bot's Master XD

your not a dork at all... dont we all like watching old cartoons!!!

Well, those two cartoons were kinda dorky LOL! I liked making up my own fanfic ideas for them though. I also like Sonic Underground... *ducks tomatoes*

Have you seen Duck Tales? it was never our kids favorite but both myself and hubby loved it!!!! Nannypoo had my dads accent which made me feel very homesick... still..... we never missed an episode!! lol

I loved Duck Tales! Also Darkwing Duck was one of my favourites - it was pretty cool that Goselyn Mallard was a gamer. I was raised on the Colecovision console and ADAM microcomputer, and was playing video games since I was maybe three or four.

We started off with a Texas Instrument the 99/4a model and our kids were brought up on that one plus the god old Commadore 64, the TI was hubbys baby at the time as it was the 16 bit computer and the kids got the Commadore, we learned code to add onto the game we bought, new levels etc and our son started coding when he was 8... he is still at it and a true gamer at heart, so is his partner and both boys. Kyle (our son) like to make his own games and I believe he has another one on the go now... he helped with the online game called Rose, not sure if you've heard of that one or not... now he's doing something else. oh, and both computers are packed away in our shed in working order!!!!! Hubby is a pack rat too! He is a computer nerd into doing the programming more so than games.. when he and his friends get together its either to talk computer or batteries/solar ... we have a bus which is a small power house lololol and he is always making it better.. now he has a wind turbine to add to the bus, so he is busy planning on how to get it to work together in the most efficient way!! It's only a short wheel base coaster so only a small bus but so far it produces more power than the solar system we have for out house!!!! Thats ok, he can hook it up to part of our home to run things when its parked out front.... did I mention hubby being a nerd already?? roflol

How cool! Well, I like making things, so I've played around with games like The Sims and Lemmings - there is a program you can use to make your own custom levels now, though it's a bit wonky. Just gotta remember Lemming logic - they will always face to the right when first entering the area, and if there is no obstruction, they will walk to their deaths. I think it's kinda like programming. It can teach you some logic. I also like older games like Centipede, Ladybug, Mr. Do!, Q*Bert, Subroc, War Room, etc.

As for TV shows, there's also some rather obscure ones like Mutant League where a bunch of spectators at a football game (along with several players) turned into grotesque mutants during an earthquake which released some toxic waste into the atmosphere and turned the area into a wasteland that only mutants could live in without complications (dunno all the details). Wish I could stream the entire series and rewatch all those episodes. That was one awesome cartoon.

Not a kids' show but one rip flic , love it. Hours of entertainment... nk

Since this thread is revived, Iā€™m going to update and say Bluey. Even my husband enjoys that one!

I've been enjoying the new show, Alice's Wonderland Bakery on Disney Junior. The first 6 episodes are available on Disney+. I love anything Alice in Wonderland related!

I have heard Bluey is a good one. We enjoy Blue's Clues when it comes on. It's a very comforting show. We also just watched Encanto over the weekend, which was great fun!

My kids range from 11-30 now, and I have 3 grands, so we've had decades of cartoon-watching! Some we loved from long ago included Little Bear, Blue's Clues, Tigger & Pooh Super Sleuths, all the Pixar movies, and most of the Disney ones (especially the older ones.

Like Becky Wooler mentioned, currently Bluey is a huge hit among my kids and grandkids. It's imaginative and charming and full of love and laughter. Another favorite, from several years ago now but always popular, is Phineas and Ferb. We really appreciate it when cartoons include humor that appeals to both kids and adults, but without resorting to "adult" humor.

When our granddaughter was a tyke, she's about to turn 18, oh gosh. ANYway, she loved The Backyardigans. I did, too. LOL I THINK you can watch them on Netflix, not sure, or maybe even on Youtube? Yes, you can stream on Youtube and Netflix in select areas, whatever the select areas are. Didn't try it, just read it.

My grandson Declan is almost 1, and he's very active, and not really much into TV; but will sometimes stop to watch a bit of Bluey and Sesame Street. My daughter and I intend to introduce him to classic Disney shows such as Duck Tales (love that theme music!) and the Disney movies that she grew up on.

Bluey is absolutely adorable, and very relatable for both children and parents. Declan's first favourite toy was Elmo, (although his current favourite is a rainbow sloth!) He always stops whatever he's doing if Elmo comes on the screen!

EDITED: Declan is now 19 months old, and still enjoys Bluey and Sesame Street, but his current favourite is Peppa Pig. He also likes Hey Duggee. Not that he sits down and watches anything; he is the exact opposite of a "couch potato", and is still very active! He's been enjoying the Toy Story movies lately. As with all his TV watching, he potters around doing his own thing and playing with his toys, and stops every so often to watch something for a few minutes. Then, off he goes again!

EDITED AGAIN: Declan turned 2 in April 2023, and loves Bluey, Peppa Pig, Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom (same creators as Peppa Pig, also featuring a lot of the same voice actors), and is really into Disney's 'Cars' movies, and still loves the 'Toy Story' movies. He recently enjoyed the original '101 Dalmations' movie, as well.

My son has just turned 19 today and my daughter is 13. Last week we all watched some Veggie Tales together! (Beauty and the Beet) When Seth was little he loved Diego, Little Einsteins, and Bear in the Big Blue House. I loved all of those! Gabrielle liked Wonder Pets, Littlest Pet Shop, and Wild Kratts. I liked Wild Kratts and Wonder Pets. Littlest Pet Shop...not so much!

Each Christmas we watch Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol and/or Mickey's Christmas Carol. Classics!

I don't have kids, but I have several of my childhood favorite cartoons on DVD.

also Star Trek Prodigy! i don't care if it's made for kids, it's a great show.

While I watch kids' shows with my granddaughter, the one I actually like is definitely Spongebob Squarepants. It makes me literally LOL.

I agree with Ruby, though, about Prodigy. I just started watching it, as I've been reluctant because it's a kids' show, but it's done quite well compared to other Kurtzman Star Trek.
