We've been sitting around here at DigitalScrapbook.com headquarters coming up with ways that we can help this community get through our current time of social isolation. While creative pursuits can certainly help pass the time at home, the act of making something in times of uncertainty can have a much deeper meaning. So whether you're in need of some help to get off the couch and try something new, or in need of more existential support, we're hoping our Creative Lockdown Challenge can help.

Our idea is that anyone who is interested can set their own creative goal (for example, scrapbook for 10 minutes a day, or complete one tutorial every day), and try to meet this goal for 30 days in a row (or as many days as your want to aim for). If you log in to DigitalScrapbook.com every day during this period the site will keep track of your progress and your longest streaks (it will ask you if you've met your goals for the day). And of course we'll have a forum thread for sharing what you're working on.

For now, consider if you'd like to join us, and what your personal creative goal(s) might be. Our plan is to start the challenge on April 15 and we'll be in touch with more details as we get our new streak-tracking functionality in place.

Challenge Starts: April 15 - get your creative goal(s) ready!

Update: feel free to set whatever goals you like--they don't have to be limited to scrapbooking, or even to crafting! You could make it a goal to just leave one thoughtful comment per day on someone's gallery layouts--that's perfectly creative, and perfectly acceptable. This challenge is for you to make what you want of it. smiley

I've enjoyed your Winter Layout Madness for two years now (2019 and 2020) and like the fact that it inspired me to be a creator, and not just a COLLECTOR! (I have a large DigitalScrapbook.com collection, since I joined in 2015 I think!)

My goals:

1. Visit the gallery everyday to check out what others are doing, leave comments and hearts when I'm inspired! (I love to read the ones I get, so I'm sure others do too!)

2. Create at least 10 new layouts, with 10 products I have collected but never used. (That will be a challenge since I often return to my favorites ...)

3. I will probably make layouts with my favorites too!

*My goals - set on April 15
10 NEW PS layouts (kits have been in collection a while, but never used before)
10 favorite PS kit layouts
20 outside layouts
daily comments

What a great idea!! I'd love to create one layout/traveler's notebook page a day!

This sounds FUN!!!

The 100 days project is due to start tomorrow - https://www.the100dayproject.org/

I did this last year as I began diving into scrapbooking - and I made one new page every day for 100 days.

Just an idea. And if it is necessary, you can take more than 100 days to complete 100 projects...

There are NO hard and fast rules. You can be flexible as you need to be.

ETA - on the other hand - 30 days is much easier than 100 days!! smiley

What a great idea!!

At this time, I cannot set a creative goal because if things get rough in my area, my work schedule will intensify. I can't even imagine what they will look like.

I'm sorry to hear that Gina. I hope that everything works out ok and your work schedule doesn't become too bad.

This sounds really fun! And I have one question - do the goals have to be scrapbooking related?

Thank you Nancy. Even if things get difficult, I'll still try to pop in from time to time because creating is how I keep my sanity. smiley

I'm in... I'm not sure what yet, but I'll figure it out before the 15th!

This sounds like a lot of fun - now to think of a creative goal that will help me stretch but still be achievable...

Update on 15 April - I think I have a goal, or rather, a set of targets for the 30 days.
1. I hope to learn 5 new things/techniques/approaches that I can use in my own pages - this is about one every 6 days, from tutorials at Pixelscrapper
2. I want to apply the new things I learn (see target 1 above) in at least 2 layouts, not counting the layout or layouts I create by following the tutorial. Basically, to internalise and be able to use what I have learned, not just do it once as a novelty and move on.
3. My goal is to create 30 pages within the 30 days but I won't commit to a rigid schedule of a page each day as some days I can make four or five pages and other days I just mess around a bit with trying something or putting something special together for a page but not actually finishing a page. (I still work full time so lots of work days I haven't got much time left for creating)

Looking forward to the next 30 days and what I can learn!

I am in. I would like to make 30 scrapbook pages with files I already have from the site. I have been backing up my computer and I have collected a large amount and it is time to use them.

I love this challenge idea! I'll probably do something like the 10 minutes of scrapbooking a day, since my computer time is pretty limited right now with my husband working from home. But I also really like Poki's idea about checking the gallery, because I don't do that nearly enough!

Ok, I'll say 10 minutes of daily scrapping, plus comment on one gallery layout every day.

I can't promise to meet a daily goal because my health may not permit, but I will do my best. Now to set a goal. I need to find a photo manipulation program that works for me...I have tried several already and no luck so far.

courage for your work Gina, not easy at the moment! the scrap helps to decompress but it is also necessary to rest when one is too tired smiley smiley

@Joyce: No, it does not have to be scrapbooking related, just something that gets you feeling creative.

Love hearing everyone's ideas! I think mine will probably be time related: 15 minutes every day working on something that's not "work." I may also try some non-pocket digital pages. I haven't made a regular layout in ages, and I think I may be feeling the itch.

ok no scrapbooking smiley ....my challenge will be to post some comments in the galleries, every other day smiley smiley

Ok putting my place holder in too. I needed help with this due to time constraints as a caregiver. I am choosing Superlatives Quick Pages by Marisa to boost each day forward. Not sure yet what I will do specifically.

Then again I might just make designs for the commons, or at least start posting the ones I have done and not posted.

***I tried to upload the image with update block filled in but not working. I did get day 2 completed though.

I love the idea of leaving a nice comment or two in the gallery every day--maybe that will be my goal for the challenge!

Yay - something to keep me going...now that I just started scrapbooking again.

My challenge for 30 days:
- comment on 3 layouts each day in the gallery
- spend 30 minutes on a CreativeLive or Masters class each day
- scrapbook for at least 30 minutes each day

I might continue my bucket list and find 30 new places that I want to visit and scrap about - I think I can do that for 30 days!!

Allright, I'm in! I pledge to paint or draw 'something' that I will turn into a design, each day, for 30 days. That should add up to at least 30 scrapbook designs for a nice creative-lockdown-challenge-kit smiley Plus, leave at least one comment in the gallery every day!

Alright, I'm in. I think my goal will be at least half an hour of drawing or painting a day, that isn't related to my current drawing course. smiley This should add up to a whole ton of time, at the end of the 30 days, so I'm interested to see how much I can get done. Also, I think at least some of the artwork I will be able to digitize and turn into scrapbook elements... hmm...

I am so overloaded with work, I am really hoping that I'm able to reduce the amount of work so I can play along- I have been at the point where I finish, I turn off the computer, and go hibernate. Maybe I can do some mixed media stuff. We'll see how it goes.

I am willing to give it a shot. We have time--it is internet that is iffy since we came to our summer camp in the mountains 9 weeks early to quarantine. Fun to at least try and then upload whenever I can. Committed to do one layout a day for 30 days, though without a doubt some will be photo composites and textures since that is my specialty and I need to get motivated to create again. Thanks for doing this. Just having a deadline seems to get me moving!

What a great idea! I am a creative work from homer anyway, but HAVING to stay home is very different from CHOOSING to stay home so I'm feeling a bit stir crazy! I have been working on fabric and disposable masks to donate to give me a sense that I am helping fight this thing by more than just staying home. My creative business has been neglected because I'm having trouble focusing. This challenge may be just what I need to help me finally get focused! I'll have to think on what goals I want to set, but they will be for my business. Thanks for setting this up!!

I shall be trying, I never shared so far what does inspire me could be the right moment if it does not take me ages to do some informatics that most of you do master !

Thank you for the idea, thank you Marisa for all of your recent posts which are awesome in this peculiar time of our lives. I am grateful for all the beautiful work shared out there, I wish I would have the talent of Rachel Etrog her pictures are so bright, inspired, meaningful. That is my hidden dream, but to stay down to earth I simply can make a daily comment, also from time to time try to share some nice ideas .

Thans, thanks, thanks to everybody, let's take part in it !

So many great ideas! Looking forward to it!

With us STILL being in the middle of moving because my partner's parents can't find a place they like that's within their budget and not a scam, I'm hoping to make a layout template each day. 98% of my art supplies and 2 of my 3 monitors are in storage already, so it's gotta be digital. Lord knows I need the creative time for stress relief!

I am doing two online Bible studies:
1. Creating Memory Dex Cards every day in April
2. Creating weekly Travelers Notebook Bible journaling page or Memory Dex Card for 12 weeks

So my goal will be post one or two Bible journaling cards or tn in the DigitalScrapbook.com Gallery every day for 30 days.

I'm in!

Over the last few months I've been slowly working on a 100 page digital 12 x 12 scrapbook and am hoping to finish it and send it off for printing very soon. This challenge will be the final push to help me get it done!

So... my goals will be:

A- Finish the last 15 or so pages of the book.
B- Upload and order printed book from Shutterfly.
C- Upload all 100 of those layouts onto my DigitalScrapbook.com gallery.

*rolling up sleeves*

Let's do this!
