Possible solution for declined payments

Some people have had trouble recently attempting to make a purchase from our site (particularly Dutch members). We are aware of some payment issues currently with certain credit cards issued outside of the United States, particularly Visa cards issued in the Netherlands and some other countries. Unfortunately some of the issues are on Visa's end, and while we have been told they are working to solve things, we don't know the exact timeline for when everything will be resolved.

For now, one possible solution to declined payments is to pay via PayPal, using a linked bank account as the payment method (rather than a credit or debit card). You can learn how to link your bank account to your PayPal account here.

Dutch version: Hoe voeg ik een bankrekening aan mijn PayPal-rekening toe?

Sorry for the trouble and inconvinience this has been causing some of our users!

@Jordan David: There has been a bit of a credit card 'crisis' in Europe going on for 2 to 3 weeks now at this moment, many of the stores payment devices stopped working and most stores will now accept cash only... reports are saying at this time, it is not due to the devices only but most certainly might be caused by other glitches ... who knows?

Yikes! That's kinda scary!

@Lisel Rice: I think so. Esp since cash purchases are legal only up to a fixed amount (varying from one EU country to another) , this shows everyone how to happily catch 22. smiley

Ugh. That's so not fun, or right, or conducive to boosting economies!
I'm sorry you're having to go through that!

I live in Belgium, Europe, and I never heard that cash purchases are legal only to a fixed amount..
It's just easier to pay with your card... and here the amount is fixed, depending on what card you use and what kind of banking account you have.. When I have to pay a large amount, I have to go to my bank and ask them to do the transfer from my account to the account of the vendor, but I can transfer up to €10.000 myself...
I have no problems to use my bank card in the shops either.

3K is the limit in Belgium this Belgian govt site says, is it true?
I mean actual cash not bank transfers.

first time I heard about that (it is aimed against whitewashing money)
But actualy...here nobody pays such amounts in cash... we don't even pay cash at the bakery or at the hairdresser..
I hardly have any cash with me, I always pay with bankcard, creditcard or Payconic (phoneapp) as do most people here.

@Patricia Felix: I much rather have the credit card, too, but since they've not been working now, it is a bit of a bummer....

In what country are they not working? I only heard about Russia..
Here we have no trouble...
