About Me
I'm a freelance editor, writer and photographer. I picked up cardmaking as an art hobby more than 25 years ago. That led to scrapbooking, but really took off when digital scrapbooking software started popping up on the market. Thanks to PixelScrapper, I have honed my design skills and do some small design jobs for hire, along with my regular editing and writing. I live in the beautiful state of Montana where I work from home and volunteer for a local non-profit called the Dylan Steigers Concussion Project. I also teach water aerobics at our local Women's Club. (Otherwise, I might sit on the couch all day designing!). Besides a passion for photography, I love sports, flyfishing, cardmaking, gardening, and walking. My goal is to try to learn a new technique or enhance existing ones every month so I can give back to this wonderful community of scrapbookers through the PS blog trains.

I was on my way from Montana to Wyoming when this sunrise made me stop--it was way too dangerous to drive while staring at this spectacular sunrise in front of me! What I liked about this challenge is the visuals you get on a B/W photo versus a color version. The way you look at this sunrise photo in B/W makes it seem like a big storm cloud, but when you see it in color, it emotes a whole other feeling. This is for the May 29 LO challenge using B/W papers and elements with color photos. Paper is Marisa Lerin's remember this place paper and ribbons are by Brooke Gazarek. Photo filmstrips I made. Title font is called Tall Films.

Thanks Bina! I am always drawn to B/W photography because it does make you look at the angles, shadows, and composition of a photo. But a sunset photo needs color, so this challenge was a perfect way to match both. (And yes, we're blessed to live in such beautiful country.)
Oh my! B E A U T I F U L photos. The beautiful High West. Makes my heart sing. Thank you so much for sharing. Just to think of living there.... how blessed you are to have the opportunity of capturing these incredible land/skyscapes. Great take on a wonderful challenge. B/W stresses form much more than colour does, being the more elegant and less loud. Your photos are beautiful in both colour and b/w. The proof might be on the wall. Printing them and hanging them on a wall will tell which is the better/more pleasing/interesting/captivating (pick any) photo for anyone.
Gorgeous photos.
This is fabulous, Julie! I love the contrast between the colour and B&W photos. :)
Beautiful colors, and nice to contrast them with the b&W
Beautiful, Julie! "What I liked about this challenge is the visuals you get on a B/W photo versus a color version. Makes you wonder what some of Ansel Adams' photos would look like in color.
Love this! The color is so striking up against the b&w!
