Digital Scrapbook LayoutDescription
For the "About Me" challenge, I chose to do a page with some of my favorite pictures of our family. We are a family of choice, consisting of my husband Scott, myself, my sister of choice Erin, her husband Coriel, her son Jarek, and their soon-to-be daughter who doesn't have a name yet. These pictures are taken by all of us over the last 12 years. The cats are our 10 and their two (some of the cats are in multiple pictures).
I used elements from Marisa Lerin, Elif Sahin, Jessica Dunn, Arlene Janner, and Shannon Melgar.

Oh what a lovely story Karen. I love that the cats look out for the raccoons!
Thanks, Shannon! Yep, the raccoon's part of our family, too, lol. I did another page just for the raccoons (yes, there are more) and shared it on another challenge here. But, the short version is, our house is bordering a marsh (actually part of it is on our property), so we've got lots of wildlife here. There were resident raccoons and resident feral cats visiting the yard at the same time when we moved in here in 2009. We'd put food out for the cats and the raccoons would be the cleanup crew. The next spring/summer, a litter of kits and a litter of kittens were born, and they grew up together. One of the kits had a genetic deformity that left her mostly blind in one eye, so she stayed pretty close to the main food source (aka our deck). We named here R.K. (Raccoon Kitty) because she'd imitate whatever she saw our cats doing inside the house! The one in this picture is one of R.K.'s kits, and it's the only remaining raccoon of the original family. Not for long, though, because it has recently found a mate who comes along for dinner. The cats tell us when the raccoons are out there and make sure we feed them. They also consider them part of the family.
Wow, what a busy family! I love the repeated frame, so cute. Is the raccoon part of the family too? Such a fun layout.
