Description
One in a series of 4 png frames I have created in the style of Polaroid camera / instant photograph designs. I wanted to add the addition of Washi tape and have added shading to this part of the design to make it look more realistic, as if the tape is stuck to and overlaying the edges of the frames.
I had a lot of fun making these and have played around with colours and patterns, using adobe photoshop and downloaded elements from the ‘freeprettythingsforyou’ (fptfy) website.
I drew the shapes of the frames and the Washi tape strips in PS and overlaid patterns before playing with the hue and layer effects to give each frame interesting colours and patterns. I tried to use patterns and colours for the Washi tape strips that compliment the frames but also contrast enough to stand out.

Thanx!
You're welcome! Annette Marie - yes I put a drop shadow on the frame itself, then on a new layer above I used the lasso tool to define the 'crease' where the shadow needed to be for it to look like the tape was stuck over a physical frame. The lasso let me get that straight line and when the area was selected I just painted in my shading and erased in placed to soften the shadow so it didn't look too artificial.
Thank you.
Kimberly, the realistic shadowing on the tape is amazing! Did you make a drop shadow on the frame and then create layers so you could put the shadow above the tape? Then judiciously erase the part that wasn't on top of the tape? I am totally stealing this idea. LOL
Fun!!
