I used to manage a store called the Scrapbook Nook and was an avid paper scrapper. I turned to digital after we closed the store. It is not as easy for me, and it takes me so much longer to make a layout. Then I tweak it forever and it never seems to be "finished". I get lots of inspiration and speed tips here at PixelScrapper. This is the cover page for a book I am making about my families Route 66/Grand Canyon trip. We camped along as much of the old Route 66 that still exists, and took a detour to the Grand Canyon. We then went to San Diego and came back to Flagstaff up through Jerome and Sedona, Arizona, before finding our way back to Kentucky. It was our best vacation ever.
I started this book in 2009 right after our vacation, but could never get into the groove. I haven't found any Route 66 kits I like, because the mountains are too orange and brown for the bright colored kits that are out there. It seems all the kits I have found are about the road signs, not the scenery. If anybody finds a rustic Route 66 kit, I would LOVE to have it! I finally settled on this kit I found while going through my stash for the cleanup challenge! I used an old Earth tone kit I have had a long time.

And I love your story behind it. Sounds like a fantastic trip! I have been to Flagstaff, Sedona, Gerome, and the Grand Canyon, but I've never traveled Route 66. Very cool!! I do love the colors in the kit you finally settled on. Oh, and your photo... WOW!!!

Oh, we were there just last summer and the grand Canyon was so impressive! We went to Monument Valley as well. I love the sepia photo you've used!
